We've been twice, both experiences were excellent. We particularly like the 2013 Chardonnay and the Victorian Red. The tasting fee is the least expensive of any of the wineries in our area. The barrel room is open for inspection and at Christmas time they had a huge display of cork items like rocking horse, grandfather clock, and toy soldier, all life size! Easy drip down 211 from Warrenton. Check it out!

We checked hours and this place was SUPPOSEDLY open. Drove all the way there? Closed. grrr I'd highly recommend calling first.

My husband and I stopped in and used our Virginia Wine Pass to get 2 complimentary tastings. Cathy quickly greeted us and served us our tasting. They only had 6 available to try right now as they have sold out of most at this time. We liked the Victorian White and Victorian Red. After our tasting, we each got a glass and headed upstairs to enjoy the loft area. It was very nicely furnished and cozy. We took notice of the nice deck and outside area that would be wonderful to enjoy during the spring, summer and fall. We plan to revisit this place the next time we are out that way.

Great stop! We enjoyed our tastings, and bought 3 wines we really enjoyed. One will be served at Thanksgiving!

We stopped here on our way to a weekend stay and thought it worthwhile. The tasting is reasonably priced and the staff is very knowledgeable. I was disappointed to find that their restroom was out of order, though. Hopefully that was a temporary thing. The wines were pretty good. Particularly liked Ranger, typical VA red blend, and the 2013 Chardonnay (may be a little sweet for some but I found it enjoyable, it's actually a little like a Sauv Blanc at the start and a Riesling in its finish). If you are on your way to the mountains and want to sample some Virginia wines, would recommend giving this a try.

We made a quick stop here on our way home from skyline drive and did a tasting....AMAZING! The property is beautiful and we were pleasantly surprised by how great the wine is. Absolutely the best local winery without a doubt. It happened to be a beautiful crisp day outside so we sat under a tree by the vineyard and enjoyed a glass of our favorite wine, some cheese and crackers and soaked up the ambiance. Should have bought a few cases before we left but now we have an excuse to go back soon!

We are fans of creamy Chardonnay wines, and Gray Ghost is one of few Virginia producers who capture that delicious, sensuous taste. We enjoy their other wines too, but the Chardonnays keep us coming back for each new vintage. The loft area is nice for cozy sips in cool weather, and they also have nice outdoor seating.

The wines are all superb and have won multiple awards. The winery is beautiful and well maintained, but not as scenic as many other Virginia wineries. They sponsor many events for wine lovers and the staff was friendly and informative. I did think that the tasting fee was very reasonable, but the pours were really small...barely a taste.

Hands down one of the best wineries in VA! We visit regularly for my birthday tour and they never disappoint. We learned how to taste an the difference between American Oak and French Oak barrels. Good for groups but call ahead for the best experience.

This place has always been on the top of my life of favorite wineries in Virginia. The wine selection is amazing with their Victoria Red and Victoria White. Their Adieu dessert wine is also a must. The Keller family has done a great job with the place.

Gray Ghost winery is my favorite local winery! I have the pleasure of living in Virginia with hundreds of wineries to choose from. Gray Ghost is a beautiful winery that goes out of their way to make every customer feel special. Owners Al, Cheryl and daughter Amy are wonderful people. All the activities that they offer are so enjoyable. Each month they typically have a few activities and once you get signed up you'll get their mailing so you never miss any! The wine tastings are fantastic. They have won many awards and love to share their LOVE of WINE!

We really liked many of the wines at this small winery. The Gewurztraminer was very good! The person doing the tasting was knowledgeable and friendly. The tasting room reflected the owner's passion for wine in the displays of over 600 glasses from different wineries that he visited. This is one I would visit again!

Great winery. Happy and interesting employees who care about their product, like to explain their wines, and provide very good service to customers. Very good wines.

We had been by many times, but they always seemed to be closed when we drove by, so we stopped in today (July 4th). They were moderately busy, but still had time to welcome us and provide us with a complimentary tasting, as they were offering them for free since it is July 4th.We really enjoyed their Victorian Red, as they also chill it and serve it "rosé" style. It was GREAT like this. Something GREAT about this winery was that they also provide wine chillers for cool wines. Many wineries in the area don't give you this, thus allowing your cool wine to get really warm as you drink it, especially while outdoors on beautiful, sunny days. (Hint to other wineries - you could learn from this!)Their landscaping was outstanding... plenty of pretty trees and flowers about their gazebo and shaded patios areas.
