This being our 2nd horseback experience, I must say it was 100 times better than the first. Bill was personable, knowledgeable and entertaining for sure! Coming upon this property we were a bit skeptical originally, as it is a bit worn down, but after meeting Bill and getting some history of the place we completely understood why; unfortunately he is a one man army caring for his ranch and horses. We did the 1.5 hour ride and it was very scenic. My hubby learned a bit about horses from him and how to prepare them for riding which he really enjoyed. Though I agree with another review that the horses could use a bit of TLC they were all very responsive and well mannered. Bill will take your camera and capture some great moments of your ride, my husband is a photographer and was very please with the photo's Bill took. We are definitely going back and bringing friends with us next time!

You won't regret going trail riding at the Rockin S Ranch! Amazing, genuine, and downright fun experience for both my girlfriend and I. We both highly recommend the 1.5 hour trail ride. It's well worth the extra bit of cash. Bill really does treat you like family and takes a ton of quality, candid photos. We have done a few trail rides in the past, but this experience was truly #1. Go on, give Bill a call and experience a trail ride like no other.

We visited the Rocking S today and had a great time. Bill treats you like family and the horses were well mannered. Bill also took a ton of photos for us. The trails present a good mix of easy and challenging rides. Close to town and easy to find. Bill also has a ton of local information on attractions and restaurants in Winchester he shares on the ride. I would recommend the Rocking S and would definitely return for another fun ride!

We visited the Bill and the Ranch expecting the usual trail ride we had experienced from larger establishments. Boy were we wrong, it was so much more than expected. Bill was funny, chatted with us throughout the entire ride and showed us a great time. We plan to come back time and time again and bring our family and friends.

My wife, son (14 yrs old), and I went on an hour ride with Bill (owner). We had a great time! The horses were calm and Bill was full of fun stories and corny jokes for my son. He also took some nice pictures of the family while we were riding. My son said he enjoyed the ride better than our tour of Luray caverns (same weekend). Highly recommend!

Driving up the winding country roads and long driveway to the Rocking S Ranch, you can tell immediately that this is going to be the real deal. You'll be greeted by several healthy, beautiful horses and a pair of friendly farm cats.The ranch is a true family affair, run by Bill and his daughters -- Bill, a former cowboy from Cody, WI and Butte, MO, is a rugged character with a passion for sharing his family's love of horses with visitors. He was very accommodating with our group of relative beginners, so we started a bit late, but gave us a full hour and a half tour at a walking pace.I had ridden several times but many years ago, so I found the pace to be just what I was looking for as a refresher, and I'll be looking forward to doing something a bit faster pace next time I'm in the area.Bill's prices are very reasonable, and I found him to be funny, professional, and kind. I really can't see any reason why you shouldn't spend some quality time at Rocking S if you're in the area!

My wife and I went with our three daughters to the Rocking S ranch and had a great time. We highly recommend it. Bill was very friendly and helpful and you can tell he really cares about making sure you have a great adventure while ensuring the little ones are safe. Our daughters had a fantastic time traveling through the woods, looking at beaver dams and crossing a creek. Bill took lots of great family photos with our camera and we all enjoyed his company. The trail is very scenic and enjoyable and the horses were calm and predictable. Bill had a range of different horses to match our riding skill. We did not have much experience riding horses and were grateful to ride horses that were easy to ride. We had a memorable and fantastic experience.

My boyfriend & I enjoyed our trail ride very much. Bill is very skilled & knowledgeable. The horses responded well. The trail is very scenic along side a creek. Bill took great photos of us & was very personable. Highly recommend it.

Awesome ride on the 10th anniversary of National Cowboy Day! Lots of fun and laughter on a beautiful trail with Bill and one of his daughters. I had ridden earlier in the day with another outfit up the road and it was the typical head to tail ride. I was very fortunate to luck out and join in on an hour and a half ride with one other experienced rider and was very pleased that I decided to give Rocking S a shot - it was sooo much better than a typical head to tail ride! I'll definitely be back.

I have never ridden a horse and wanted to take my 9 year old daughter on a trail ride. So happy we found Rocking S. Perfect location, calm and well-behaved horses, beautiful trail, and excellent guide. I would recommend this to anyone!

Bill, owner and trail guide, obviously enjoys sharing his love and knowledge of horses with those lucky patrons who make their way to the Rocking S Ranch. Our ride took us through beautiful, shady forest trails and across shallow creeks. Not only did Bill provide clear, easy instructions for my husband and me (we hadn't ridden in decades), but he also entertained us with corny jokes and took photos of us (with our camera) throughout the ride. We'll definitely return to the Rocking S next year on our annual visit with the grandkids.

My wife Stacey and I had a fantastic time and Bill and Haley were great. It was my first time riding a horse and Bill set me up with a fantastic one (Del Rio). We enjoyed every bit of the experience including the hills, trails, woods, and crossing the stream a couple times. I think the most interesting part of the experience is Bill himself. He is one of a kind and kept us laughing throughout the ride with his jokes. And best of all you could tell how much of a family man he is and how much love and care he puts into this business. It was a great time and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for some great outdoor fun! He even went the extra mile and took pictures and video of us during the ride :)

We had a really great time on our trail ride with Bill as our guide. He did all the work and we had all the fun. The horses were gentle and Bill was patient with us as the whole family rode, some for the first time. I highly recommend Rocking S Ranch.
