It's an out of the way park with limited parking, but what history. Our soldiers used this arch as a port of embarkation... a must see for everyone.

Not really much to see , it's an Arch in the bad part of town. The historical aspect about it can be read about on the Internet. It is my understanding thousands of troops passed through it to get to the ships.

This is a bit of a hidden thing. Not really worth your time to find it. Not much explaining it or much thought in it

Newport News was a major departure point for soldiers for both World War 1 and World War 2. This arch remembers those who passed through the arch to ships that took them across the ocean and those who came home - and those who didn't. Veterans names are engraved for the major conflicts of the 20th century. The arch sits on a beautiful plaza. Another piece of history in an area known for history.
