Stopped in Alpine on a summer Sunday night, this was pretty much the only bar open in town (that we could find anyway).Looks a bit of a dive but it was full of interesting people and has lots of charm once you're in. The drinks selection is good (including some great Big Bend beers) and the prices are reasonable. We had a great night there!

Looking for a friendly, cool place to wet your whistle in the desert of West Texas? Try Harry's Tinaja in Alpine. Run by Harry Mois, a misplaced German, it is the perfect hangout. Cowboys just off the ranch mingle with college students, tourists, and eclectic locals in this little beer joint. No doubt the best place in town with great atmosphere. You will feel at home right away. Sit outside on summer nights and enjoy local music. No food, but local food trucks set up outside.

Very eclectic, cozy, and a bit strange (if you're a Texas visitor or urbanite), BUT if you want that genuine West Texas bar experience with all the local color, inexpensive beer, and friendly atmosphere...its the place to visit. Beer tip, try one of the local taps of Big Bend Brewery....unless you personally must travel long distances just to order a big box brew (really?). Meet Harry....great guy. Yes, that's his childhood lederhosen hanging by the door....in fact, there's stuff everywhere...on the walls, ceilings, every available shelf space....and just about all covered in a nice layer of West Texas dust. I heard the story, but still not quite sure how Harry stuck in Alpine after a round-about trip from Germany, but you should check it out for yourself....part of the charm

Fun place to go for drinks and bar snacks. Great live music and cool atmosphere. You are only a stranger once when you go there.
