The museum gives visitors a lot to learn about Brenham and Texas history thereof, stuff I hadn't known about before (and I'm a native Texan!). The Giddings brothers (Brenham's founders)were quite remarkable and the museum gives you great information on them.

This small, museum is housed in the old Brenham Post Office building. The one staff person on duty gave us an interesting explanation of the system used at the time, with the Post Master “spying” on workers from an overhead, enclosed walkway. She was also knowledgeable about the post-Civil War fires in the city. Display space for artifacts is limited, but the museum is none-the-less interesting.

I was in town with a friend of mine when I found myself with some spare time on my hands so I decided to stop in. I'm a fan of museums and I like to watch shows about museums across the county. I was very pleased with the curator who took the time to give me some insight on some of the artifacts although I was in a rush. All in all it was a great little place.

A very nice museum with many local and quircky artifacts. Staff is helpful and informative. You find that Brenham was on the cutting edge on many events and circumstances--Juneteenth, public water systems, cotton, etc.

Small town museum with a few interesting items. Cynthia who greeted us and was very friendly told some behind the scenes stories of how the Postmaster checked up on his employees back in the day before electronic surveillance. Its worth asking her about.

Walk into the museum while we were at The Uptown Swirl Event this past weekend. Its a small but nice place...for the size of the town they actually had quite a bit of very interesting details on their history. The staff was friendly and happy to answer any questions. Just a donation to get in...well worth it to take in some Texas history while strolling the shops.

When we went to Brenham Heritage Museum we had a lovely time. This museum presents you the culture and history of Brenham and Washington County. There are a lot of nice things to see there, especially Civil War related items. You can also find some cool artistic things that I personally really liked. Another great thing is that you don`t have to pay an entrance fee, you can just leave a donation. Overall, we enjoyed a nice day here.

I visited the museum as part of a meeting held there. We were given a private tour and there is a lot of Brenham history there. It is well worth visiting during your stay in Brenham.

We were there on Maifest day so the entrance fee was waived. It is a small museum which houses some historical pieces relating to the history of Brenham. Interesting.

Our exhibitions at the time were quite tired. She isn't exaggerating at all. We have been in exhibition planning mode for a long time, and the gallery is now far better. Our exhibits are numerous and modern. This kind of change would not have been possible without the input of our visitors... and it is always the less than stellar reviews that inspire us to try harder. Regarding information about local businesses and such... there is a great deal to remember about the community and her history. Give us a day or so and we can go dig that info out of our records. I wish we could remember everything (maybe some folks can), but we always seem to have trouble with that... especially specifics. Call us and we can get anything you need. Thanks for the constructive review!

After checking out the cool antique fire trucks outside with our two small boys, we wandered into this museum. It is a bit dusty as small town museums with limited resources tend to be, but my 2 and 4 year old enjoyed walked through and checking it out, and we found the staff there to be very warm and friendly.

Yes, we did need some freshening. And yes, we always have funding issues. We were, however, able to do some significant updating in our gallery. It is radically different, with modern content, more information, and less in the way of "objects on a shelf". It took a very long time to sort these problems out, but we listened. We like criticism. It helps! Thanks!

The Brenham Heritage Museum is located in the old Brenham post office building and contains a number of exhibits related to the history of the city and Washington County. Particularly interesting was an exhibit dealing with early medicine. A number of items were not on exhibit because museum personnel were in the process of cataloging and photographing them. The price of admission is $1.00. Museum personnel were friendly and accommodating. Photographs without flash are permitted. I would be inclined to return to this museum. I don't think it has achieved its full potential.
