Great history museum! Adults and children can enjoy the museum and the reconstructed village. I could have spent the whole day there. Nothing to dislike just everything to enjoy.

Cowboys & Teepee's. Open skies and hard living. An interesting road side stop along Route 67 in Cleburne. Stop for a nice walk around.

This place is pretty neat but there's just not much to it!Very well maintained and beautiful property.Worth visiting if you happen to be in the Cleburne area.

The museum is very small, but the two guides were very knowledgeable. It would take no more than 30 minutes to see the entire exhibit.

This is such a fine tribute to our forefathers who rode the Chisholm Trail and moved cattle up the trail to markets. It covers local history and that of our native Americans. Billy Cate is to be applauded for his hard work.

We stopped here one day on our way back from Glen Rose. It is a nice little scenic area with some neat historical things to see and learn. Several volunteers are usually out there as well giving some historical perspective to the museum pieces. My family and friends really enjoyed this area and best of all it was free!

Surprising amount of historically significant artifacts and buildings for a small museum. They are about to start building a Native American addition that should be incredible.

This is a living museum of the history of the spot. The in-character volunteers are extremely knowledgeable and ready to educate. Don't just drive-by, there's much to see.

If you are like our family, you may not know much about the old cattle drives in the mid to late 1800's. This is the perfect place to learn about the famous cattle drives and the impact they had on our western culture. The Chisholm Trail museum is the home of Wardville, the first county seat of Johnson County, TX. They have done a wonderful job in preserving the rich western culture that Texas is famous for. The Chisholm trail was used by cattlemen to transport their cattle to through north Texas on up into Kansas. It is free to walk through. Our family really enjoyed the numerous exhibits that have been restored. They have a Stage Station/ Saloon representing the stage line that ran out of Cleburne and the seventeen saloons in this area during the hay day of the Chisholm Trail Cattle Drives. There was a jail in Wardville in 1855 and they have the jail doors from the original jail. Their exhibits also include a recently added one room school and a Gunsmith Shop. Also, if you enjoy events portraying the old west, then you will probably enjoy the Chisholm Trail Pioneer Days; an event that typically happens the Friday & Saturday before Thanksgiving in November each year. They have everything you would want and expect, Longhorns, gunfights, Civil War Reenactment camp, food vendors, music, etc.Summary - our family really enjoys stopping here and revisiting our western past. We would recommend if you like the old west, to stop here and visit.
