Great state park and is rarely crowded... It's kind of a hidden gem... Several times I've almost had the park to myself... Great hiking trails... Great mountain bike trails.... They just refurbished the beach swimming area and the screened cabins and the bunk cabins! Great RV park area... With some nice spots on the water or very close to the water....

Plenty of walking paths around Buffalo creek. Shady and pleasant. Dry right now so creek is low. Good picnic areas too.

Beautiful place. Well maintained, friendly staff, clean. Great hiking trails and lots of wildlife. Not as crowed as other parks on a weekend. restrooms were very clean. Good variety of RV, tent, primitive, barracks, screened areas, and other group setups. Participates in Geocaching.

This is a really neat place to enjoy nature trails, camping, and spend time at a lake. The drive to this place is scenic and enjoyable. In addition, the rangers and staff are very friendly and helpful.

Stopped at this nice state park again for a picnic lunch. Very friendly and helpful gate attendant. Clean and not crowded on weekdays

We had a good time at the state park while staying in a camper and friends in a tent. Overall, it was well managed and clean, nice staff. The RV sites seemed kind of close together and didn't have a lot of room for tents. The hiking trails were good and there was a lot of vegetation and wildlife to see. The water was very low, but it was still good for fishing.

We really loved hiking here. It was beautiful, invigorating, and the trails lead you to many awesome sites. We will definitely be going here again and again. There really wasn't enough parking for everyone that was going on the trails, without having to park half way across the park, and for people who hike for hours like we do, you want that parking by the head trail. We didn't camp here, but plan to come back with the kids this summer, because it really is a cool park.

Really loved staying the weekend here. We had a good time. We did have some issues getting the trailer into our spot and opening the slide out and the canopy. It was eventually handled (my husband says I am a really bad spotter). The sites are pretty close together but we still had plenty of privacy. The lake is very low. There is also no wake allowed on the lake so we didn't have to hear any loud boats or jet skis which was refreshing for being at a lake. FULL HOOK UPS is always a plus!!!! No down sides a beautiful place to spend the weekend. If you get a chance hop over to Granbury for the day. They have some really cool shopping in the Downtown Area.

This park has level RV sites and a lovely lake. There are several hiking trails that are unpaved with Geocaching in various areas. Be sure to hike to the dam for beautiful scenic views. Several deer were right at our campsite. The campsites were spacious with fire rings and grills. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The shop on site had variety of staple food items for those that forgot the hot dogs or marshmallows along with fuel and rentals of kayaks. We will visit often.

Having grown up in Cleburne my wife and I and many of our friends have enjoyed the state park for over 50 years. It's always been a great place - quiet, lots of trees and a nice small lake. The park's been improved over the years and has very nice cabins as well as lots of good sites for RV's and tent camping.

We live in the Dallas-Fort Worh area and we love to take our RV there for a short 1-2 day campout and use the full hookup campsite. We have been there 3 times in the last 2 months. The lake is a spring-fed gem: the level is down, like most lakes around here but still decent; the entire lake is lined with small secluded beaches, clean and fresh water for swimming, nice hiking trails. I like the lake bottom which is mostly squishy mud without too much vegetation. I can get to about 4-5 feet deep, which is a safe depth for swimming. We can also walk around most of the lake just following the shoreline. Only boats which do not create wakes are allowed on the lake, so one sees mostly canoes and kayaks, and a few flat-bottom boats. The layout of the grounds does not feel crowded at all, even on holiday weekends.I believe the camp store building is currently closed, so I am not clear where people get rental canoes and kayaks. Most people seem to bring their own gear and supplies. There are screened shelters and group barracks and a group building available for rental. We like the place and think it would be suitable for a possible family reunion, or some such event.

From full hook ups to primitive sites. Great if you like hiking and/or mountain biking. Canoes for rent and decent fishing. Good central location if you want to explore Dinosaur Valley, Waco, or any of the Ft.Worth sites.

even though the water level was down, going to the park on a Monday with grand daughter in tow was a great trip. The water was clear and the park was very clean.

Have stayed here several times in the last couple months, as we just (March) purchased an RV in Cleburne. It is a great park offering a bunch of amenities. They have full hook ups to primitive camping sites. The restrooms and showers are clean. The hiking and mountain biking is excellent. It is close to Dinosaur Valley State Park (20-30 minutes) and the town of Cleburne. The staff were all personable and the Park Host answered a ton of our questions on the region and parks.

We have visited several Texas state parks and this was one of the better ones so far. Nice trails that were partly shaded and kids enjoyed climbing on the rocks. The hike around the lake was pretty and the playground is great! This was just a brief stop on our way to Glen Rose but it is close enough to Waco and Dallas to come back.
