If you have any interest in the Civil War, this is the museum to visit. You will not be disappointed. It's full of personal letters, artifacts, and maps. Plan to spend several hours here as there is much to see. The western art is a fine collection of mostly recent paintings and sculptures. It's a good collection of the newer western art.

Worth a stop, museum/art galley/planetarium ! Enjoyed it very much! Got a sneak peak at the new arrow head wing, will need to come back when it opens, looks to be a great addition to the other attractions!

You walk the line between the war that rages over your head between the north and south. You hear the death cries of the solides as they die many not understanding how this happend and how is split their country and family. A shinning diamond of a smal first class museum where you least expect it. A thank you to the family whose generosity leaves a legacy of the civil war you should experience. Regroup from the Drama with the Western Art Museum and enjoy and revere the beauty and tributes to our west at the Western Art Musuem located on the Navarro College Campus at Corsicana Texas

Excellent Civil Was museum. Went one time and they had people in period costumes. Very well put together display of Civil War memorabilia.

The museum is on the campus of Navarro college. The address given is a run down residential area. Upon finding the museum it is a very outstanding experience.

This is an excellent collection! They also have a planetarium in the same building and show IMAX movies!

Well worth the time to go thru. We were there on a day when we were the only ones in there. Personal tour was wonderful. The man giving the tour was very knowledgeable. The Art exhibit was not open so they just charged us half price which we were not expecting. Very pleasant people.

We throughly enjoyed our visit of the Pearce Museum. We appreciated the personal tour by Mr. Brittan. We learned so much about the Civil War. It would have been nice to look at the museum more after his guided tour. Just like any other fine museum, they haven't enough room to display all their artifacts. We understood this and were not disappointed about not seeing everything. We will return, if ever in the area, to see their art collection that was currently on display due to an art show. The art that was on display was excellent especially the graphiteart of horses. Beautiful! Looked like photographs. We were disappointed we didn't see the planetarium. It was closed until Saturday. When we were leaving we noticed that there were men on the roof making repairs. So this may have explained the closing.

This museum is small, but has plenty to see! Great collection of artefacts from the civil war. We found it very interesting, but would of liked to look around by ourselves. We had a staff member talk us through most of it, which is fine, but didn't allow us enough time to look and read at the collection at our own pace. We felt a little like we were being rushed out! The museum is excellent, but staff need to be aware visitors, whether local or from overseas, can look around for themselves and will ask questions if needed.

I am more of a Revolutionary War buff, but learned a lot in the civil war museum connected with Navarro College in Corsicana. The staff there is very friendly and helpful. I'm glad my Mom and I stopped by on her visit.

Located in quaint Corsicana, Texas, the museum offers a unique perspective from a grunt soldiers' perspective of the Civil War and many battles. It remains fair in its discussion of "north" vs. "south" issues, and doesn't get into the politics side of things. So from this perspective, it offers a lot for someone interested in the Civil War.The bad news is that the people overseeing the museum are on the edge as being classified as rude, and the museum is simply not adequately lighted and not laid out well. We were greeted in a pleasant manner, and the greeter gave a brief overview of the the museum. We were given headsets and shown the entry. and away we went. The headsets, by the way, were wonderful and helped explain the exhibits. Although . . . as one approached an exhibit, one was supposed to type in the number corresponding on the exhibit in order to learn more. Unfortunately, the person putting the numbers on the exhibits had a strange sense of humor, as the numbers were small and hard to read - or had slipped off entirely. As we toured around and wanted to read letters (or accompanying translations of some), the lighting was very inadequate. Some were okay, and some were simply impossible to make out because of the lighting. The museum guided us in a certain flow, but in the middle we realized that now things were out of order - that we reading about the end of battle only to be followed by another ~40 exhinits leading up the battle - backwards. Very frustrating and confusing. The pros are the headsets - a wonderful addition to the tour. The cons are these: poor lighting, flow doesn't make sense, and the most frustrating of all is that we were lured to this museum with their website claiming that certain things were on exhibit. When we arrived we were told, "Oh, we moved those to storage - just to crowded to show them". And when we asked to possibly see these items as we had driven a long way, the answer by here was a curt, "No". Picture this: we were the ONLY ones in the museum, the currator had nothing to do, and this was her response. In summary the museum is just okay, but it has soooooooooo many possibilities of being a truly great Civil War museum if they would address the issues addressed herein. And the cost would be minimal to do this. Shame on the currator for being lazy and not helpful.
