I went with several international students on this hike, was not too steep, took several pictures, cabins in the mountains. rivers flowing, butterflys following us around, a lot of pretty folage. seemed a long hike @ 2.3 miles up but was not hard at all.

There isn't much to this teeny tiny visitor's center at McKittrick Canyon. I think a previous reviewer who mentions animal exhibits mixed this visitor center up with the bigger visitor's center south of here. The McKittrick Canyon center has restrooms with running water, and a short informational film you can watch. That's pretty much it. There was not a ranger on the premises when we stopped.

Took a nice 5 mile round trip hike up the McKittrick Canyon to visit the Pratt cabin built in the 1930's out of local material with an unusual stone roof. Did not go all the way up to the Grotto but sure it is nice as you are in the bottom of the canyon it the forest at this point. The hike is not too tough as it follows the bottom of the canyon along a stream bed and is well markedThis is a good way to get a feel for the Guadalupe Mtn park as their are not many access points by car since it is so remote.

Very informative, clean, good restrooms. The parking was nicely laid out and the road from the highway was newly stripped.

Loved the rock collection. That's unusual for a national park. The animals were great. Matter of fact, we saw a coyote soon after leaving the center. Friendly and helpful people.
