While driving between College Station and Brenham there's a somewhat inconspicuous sign referencing the original spot of Baylor University. I'd driven by there a couple of times before finally stopping. I've lived in College Station for many years and never knew that our state's oldest university was, in fact, situated right around the corner from the university we call home in Aggieland. This is a really neat and very well preserved site! Several markers tell the original story of the founding fathers of Baylor, along with many details on this specific location and the buildings that were here. There are two registered historical markers here, one for the site itself and another for the original gravesite of Baylor's namesake, Judge REB Baylor, although it indicates the remains have since been relocated.I'm really happy I stopped and looked around! The history is fantastic and the upkeep on the grounds and surrounding area is really nice. If you're driving through and like Texas history you should definitely stop! You won't be disappointed!
