whittington's jerky and general store

We had to stop & check this place out since I have a bit of a jerky addiction. All the jerky was good. I got the spicy turkey which says a lot b/c I rarely get anything other than beef. My girlfriend got the pork jerky & she really liked it. I did think they were a little pricey though.

We stopped by on the way to Marble Falls. Impressed with the variety of jerky in this small shop. Also REALLY liked that they had samples out so that you could try before you buy. The hot jerky was a bit too spicy, husband and daughter tried it and had to go out to the car to get a drink to cool off their mouth! The pork jerky and turkey jerky were our favorites. The garlic was really yummy, but a bit too hard to chew. We also bought a jar of pineapple salsa that was amazing. They had samples of several salsas and dips. Cute non-food merchandise available as well. We like having jerky or dried sausage in car for road trips to use as lunch/snack to get us by between breakfast and dinner.

We stopped in on our way through the hill country and were pleasantly surprised. The store has many types of jerky, salsas, canned fruits and veggies, as well as texas themed gift ideas, and more. They do a great job of having many samples out where you can try them on your own, without having to ask someone every time. The one problem is that you'll probably find many more things you will want to buy that what you planned on! We left with some delicious pineapple salsa, and 3 kinds of jerky, one flavor for each of us. I liked the pork jerky, my wife the garlic beef jerky, and my daughter the turkey jerky. We were able to snack on these the next three days while travelling about the hill country. We kept them in ziploc bags and threw them them in the ice chest to keep them cool and fresh. Definitely glad we dropped in!!

Nice store located in Johnson City. The store interior is a little small but has a cozy feeling that will make you want stay for longer. Their jerky is great, specially their sausage! Additionally, you can find a very nice selection of salsas, cheeses, syrups and, home decor. Stop by and feel like home at this store!

Whittington's jerky is some of the best I have ever had. It's true jerky (not meat-flavored tree bark and shoe leather), full of flavor and protein. They also have a shop full of "Kountry Kitsch" gift items, and a great selection of canned goods from that ubiquitous (but very good) supplier of custom canned items.
