We completely enjoyed our stop. Our guide was very knowledgeable & friendly. We had no idea how close you get to the animals. It was a very cool day, so we had the whole park to ourselves to feed the animals that come right up to your trailer. We especially loved the camels. We were able to get a few selfies with them! Definitely worth the price!

We celebrated a birthday and rented cabins. The animals are right outside the cabins! They have a petting zoo for the cabins and a swimming pool with hot tub. It was too cold for swimming but we loved the fire pit! If you and / or your family love animals, this is one place you definitely should visit! The camels stole my heart!

So we stopped there on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't too crowded. We got right on the tour which was fun. The animals come right up to the tram and you can feed them and pet them. This is great for anyone-all ages were enjoying the interaction. They also allow you to enter the gated area and feed them animals and get up close to them. The kids like that. Overall it's a very simple attraction but a good one. The price could be a little more affordable for families. For us (5) we spent over $50. Staff was friendly.

We were visiting grandchildren in the Austin area and looking for something fun to do with 3 and 6 year-old boys. This "safari adventure" was just wonderful! We all jumped aboard an open wagon with fenced sides pulled by a tractor and off we went. The tour is narrated by the driver. We enjoyed feeding many types of deer along with various other animals like buffalo, gazelle, zebra, and camel. Even the adults were in on the fun before the trip was over. It was a great afternoon adventure for the whole family!

I live nearby and took a friend and her daughter as well as my mother, because I thought that the visit for be fun for the little girl. I didn't get a bucket of food pellets for me, because I didn't think that I would care to feed the animals. Watching would be enough for me. The little girl had fun. But I think that we all had a lot of fun!! And those of us grown ups who didn't have food to feed the animals felt we had made a mistake!!! Fortunately my friend is doing an excellent job of raising a generous daughter who was willing to share her bucket with us. My mother and I are planning to go back for a visit, even if we don't have any kids to take with us. This is really good fun for anyone. As an additional note, we went at the end of June (and remember this is Texas). So I was worried that we would be really hot. We weren't, though. The breeze from the moving tractor and the covering for the trailer that is used kept us all fairly comfortable.

Our grandkids came to visit and we wanted to do something that was fun and close by. We had no idea that the Exotic Zoo would be a five on our list, but we LOVED every minute of it! Taking the trailer that's pulled behind a tractor is far better than driving in one of the other parks in your car! Feeding the animals was a real treat! Plus, we had no clue there were so many different and interesting ones go see. The sign says over 500. It's true! FYI..get more than one bucket of food...it's a blast! The adults loved it just as much as the kiddos! We'll be back!!

Excellent place for families and kids, but people of any age who loves outdoors and animals will enjoy this Zoo. More than 500 animals free on the wild space anxious for you to feed them. Facilities are primitive, nothing fancy, if you don't like flies, dust and hot please stay in your car, but if you love to be in touch with nature, animals and want to show your inner child...visit this place and you won't regret it. Bathrooms are clean but plain. No A/C in the front office. Get some cold water bottle with you and don't forget to buy a bucket of food to feed the animals and of course...don't forget your camera!

The Zoo was the best I have experienced. Instead of driving a car through the animals and having animals stick heads in the car while trying to get pictures and feed each one, this zoo takes you on a guided tour. A large trailer with bench seating is pulled through the zoo by a tractor. Everyone on board is able to feed each animal with ease. This also allows for fantastic picture taking. Buckets of food are only $6 and one bucket is plenty for the tour and the petting zoo. The trailer has a large gate surround, so there is no risk of falling out, and also has a canopy cover that provides a nice, shaded ride. Guests are able to stand and walk around the trailer to get the best views. The tour guide, Kaylie, was friendly and knowledgable and clearly loves the zoo. I will visit many more times.

Great time for our 3 year old! Highly recommend this tour if you're thinking of something to do for the day when staying out in the hill country. We drove in from Lake Travis and spent 2 hours at the Zoo before heading into Johnson City for lunch. Very friendly staff!

My 3 year old LOVED this place. You get to walk around a fenced in area with the goats and pet them and feed them and they also have a tour where they drive you around on a trailer hitched to the back of a tractor and you go through their land and feed the animals. They have deer, horses, camels, OX, etc....... It was fun for the whole family. Expect to get dirty feeding the animals and some of the goats will try to eat your clothes and shoes so keep an eye out.

My 4 yr. old daughter and I had a great time on our visit to the Exotic Resort Zoo. They have the biggest Petting Zoo I’ve ever seen. My daughter was running around trying to force feed all the kids (baby goats, not children) and lambs. Note: I will go earlier in the day on our next visit, and go to the petting zoo first. That might make the huge (but very inexpensive) bucket-o-feed a little lighter too…I had just as much fun as my daughter on the tour through the park. The guide was great! She was funny, and gave us a ton of information about the animals and the Resort. She even took us off the road to get us to an ostrich. My favorites were the Scottish Highland Cattle. You just don’t see those in this part of the world. However, my daughter wanted nothing to do with their tongues trying to grab the feed, but she tried to feed everything else. They had several species of endangered animals too. I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of animals, including birds, at the Resort. If you are in Johnson City, with children (or if you just like animals), do not miss visiting the Exotic Resort Zoo.

I went for an overnight trip with a few friends and stayed in one of the cabins. Then next day took the zoo tour. The weather was horrible but we still had a lot of fun and enjoyed the animals.

I've driven past this zoo time and time again and finally stopped with my husband. As two grown adults, we had a blast! The guide was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. Buying a bucket of food allows you to feed the animals and get an amazing experience. When you're done with the guided tour, you can go to the petting zoo and have lots of baby goats melt your heart. Such a cool experience. They also offer a military discount!

This is the way a safari park should be! A ride on a trailer pulled by a tractor and the chance to get up close and personal with some wonderful wildlife! These animals are so tame, they take the food (available by the bucketful for about $5) right out of your hands. This place exceeded our expectations and we talked about it for days. Thinking about staying in one of the cabins next time.

This place is for any age group and it's more than worth the price. Seniors get a discount and order online for savings. You should buy a bucket of feed for your trip around park because there are many friendly and hungry animals that will entertain you as you feed them on the tour from the trailer pulled behind a tractor. You will get a closeup chance to see many different animals and I mean closeup. The camels were my favorite and my wife and I had a blast on this tour. Plenty for kids and adults alike along with a petting zoo before and after the tour. This is a must visit if you are traveling Hwy. 281 near Johnson City and a great one or two day get away trip. Don't miss this place because it's a one of a kind adventure.
