Great for RVing. Forested and spread out for privacy. Beautiful lake and park in general. We will be back.Day to day living requirements have invaded camping though, and the park has WiFi, but reception/signal strength is really poor. Bring DVDs if you want TV, because reception is bad. Only picked up CBS and CW, and missed the Super Bowl,

We reserved a screened cabin for a 2 day, 1 night family getaway. It was great! Since we had to wait for our checkin time for the cabin, we decided to go pier fishing. They were biting in periods, but it was still fun. The staff that work the gift shop were extremely friendly, too. The cabin was nice and kept out the mosquito population very well. Fishing behind it was also good. The whole family had a great time.

I started going to this park with my parents 35-40 years ago,and still enjoy going here to launch my boat. A lot has changed; they added a new camping area and updated their screened shelter sites, but the pines and the lake views are still as pleasant as ever. The observation tower next to the park store is a big hit with kids, and the fishing pier is very popular as well. The only reason I can't give it an "Excellent" is that they have no cabins to rent as some parks do.

Took our travel trailer for a quiet weekend geocaching with friends. We had never been to it before. Very impressed say the least! It was very quiet even though we arrived Halloween night. It got pretty cold and we enjoyed smores at the campfire. The trails were in great condition and easy to access. This is a big fishing lake but we didnt fish this trip

Great place to just sit back on the grass and look up at the tall pine trees. Great hiking trail and fishing for my wife.

LLSP is our go-to park at only 1 1/2 hours from home. We stayed 6 nights this trip. The weather was beautiful... sunny low '70s afternoons with campfire cool mornings and evenings. The weekend was a fun, full busy park of families, church groups, kids troops, etc. The weekdays were quiet and calm. The Park Store is new and still getting started, but nice. Lots of trees are down or gone due to Hurricane Ike in 2008 and the droughts of 2009-2011. However, the sites and lake are still beautiful and a fun camping experience!

Beautiful park! We stayed seven days had a blast. Very convenient areas to fish from shore (no luck tho), scenic trails and the lake is awesome.

fishing, swimming, camping.....what's not to love? The staff is friendly and helpful. The park is beautiful and they have updated areas!

Beautiful, friendly staff, most areas kept very clean. Trails where well marked, great butterfly gardens with bird watching areas. Cant wait to go back and hike all the trails.

spent a weekend here at the park. It was a good experience. The park offered fishing, hiking trails, swimming and much much more. Since we took our baby we did not get to swim in the lake, due to it being very deep, instead we used the smimming pool in the park. The campsite we used had electricity (we needed the electricity to power fans) and water and was across the street from the restrooms, which also had showers. Over the stay there was very pleasant and will be definitely returning.

We recently visited Lake Livingston and we loved it! We haven't been to many Texas St Parks yet and we are pretty new to camping in Texas but we're getting the hang of it. Lake Livingston has a lot to offer. The campsites in the premium loops (Red Oak and Piney Shores) are near or right on the lake and are pretty. These are the only sites available to reserve specific spots online and are usually booked out 2 months in advance especially in the summer. We ended up on the other end of the park since it was a last minute trip, we just drove up there on a Friday and hoped for the best. The only sites left available were in the Pin Oak Loop which is not close to lakeside at all but still nice. The sites were pretty close together but heavily wooded. The bathrooms in Pin Oak were "meh" but they did come in every morning and scrub them clean for which we were grateful since we don't have a shower or toilet in our pup. Not sure what they are like in the other camping loops.The sunsets are lovely on the lake and there is a huge 3 story observation tower right at the boat ramp to take great pics from.There is a park store at the boat ramp, however it is closed right now for renovations...I imagine that when the store is up and running it really adds to the appeal of this park. However, if you need something, the town of Livingston is only 15 miles up the road. There is even a pretty decent Mexican food restaurant in town in case you don't feel like cooking one night (like us!) [;)]In the park, between the premium loops and the Pin Oak Loop, is a large facility for group gatherings and a swimming pool with shaded picnic tables and lifeguards on duty. The hours of operation of the pool are Thur-Sun 11am-5:30pm and they do charge $3 for adults and $2 for children). Fear not if you're there during the week when the pool isn't open or don't want to swim in a pool, as just down the hill is the lake swimming hole. Keep in mind that it is deep and there is no beach. There is a pleasant grassy area near the edge of the lake with shade trees and a ladder for getting in and out of the lake (built up concrete walls line most of this lake). Floatation devices are strongly encouraged, especially for little ones.The trails in the park are nice but not real "back country"...you end up hiking or biking right next to the road or the campsites along much of the trail system but they are still pleasant for a nature walk or biking around the park to get from one place to another which is what we try and do to get exercise. You are close to Sam Houston Nation Forest with it's hiking and biking trails if you want to go exploring further out and around the Lake Livingston area.Another fun attraction is the horseback riding. There is a horse outfitter and stables on the Pin Oak loop side of the park and they offer trail rides ($30 per person and $38 if you want to do a ride with meal)The boat ramp and docks offer plenty of fishing space and also a cleaning station in the event you get lucky and catch one! The Park office rents fishing poles in case you forgot to bring your own (as if!). The only thing they don't have available is canoe rentals. Not sure if they will after store renovations are complete.With all the being said, we are heading there again in a few weeks as we actually got lucky and caught a premium spot, right on the lake, open up for reservation. Can't wait! [CP]

If you stay at Livingston and like swimming in the lake, you must go there! Entrence fee is $5 per person.

We love it, fun for the kiddos and adults, also the dog too =) maybe we go back again next year!!! The weather was perfect, my husband was fishing a big and yummy fish.I love the park because is for family, have clean bathrooms so we take a shower and was fresh.

We took a trip down to go fishing. Went to the state park and it was just amazing. Very beautiful! The only problem was the store was closed down for remodeling and the restroom were closed also. I have a disability and I could have used closer restrooms! Had to drive back out of the park to go and get bait and supplies. But other than that, it is a very nice park!
