The exhibit rooms are large and nicely laid out. There are chairs so you can sit and contemplate the pictures/sculptures. The building is quiet and small enough that you can see the exhibits in a short visit, or relax and stay a while.

this is a great little museum tucked into marshall texas. over the years I've been many, many times. they have a wonderful collection and at Christmas, they always have special displays for the season. It's kept immaculately clean and the staff is always ready to meet and greet as well as inform. wonderful!

I've been visiting this museum regularly for 8 years. It never disappoints me. The exhibitions are always superior quality, the staff is helpful and available, and although there is no charge to visit this museum memberships are available and donations are appreciated. There is a permanent collection of art by Leo Michelson, a Russian/American artist, but there is always a new exhibition of art that is diverse and ever changing. I never miss the changing of exhibits because it is always exceptional. For a city of 23,000, the Michelson is a diamond to be discovered and visited again and again.

I've only been here once while researching an article about Marshall but was really impressed with the gallery space and the the exhibits. Great asset for the town.

When I heard about the exhibition of paintings done in National Park by plein air artists I made this a stop on recent travels. If you are anywhere nearby I would highly recommend seeing this show which will be there until October 5, 2013. However, after that date this little museum seems to keep a number of quality shows --as well as a very good permanent collection. In addition, lots of good nearby lunch spots makes this a great stop.
