My youngest went there to play football in 2008. He got to play some until he suffered a broken leg. Had three operations on it and infection. ETBU professors worked with him to finish his work and get his credit for the semester. The President at the time, took an interest and got to know my boy personally. Found out later, he pretty well knew every kid at ETBU personally! During my boy's time there, the President, Dub, made changes that improved things for the kids. He improved the dining room facilities and food, built new dorms, improved athletic facilities and hired some good support staff. ETBU remains true to its mission as a Baptist University. They recruit kids that want secure, stable environment, Christian beliefs and Christian attitudes. I must say the kids in the athletic programs are of that cut. They really want to compete, but at the same time, they model the Christian attitudes. They will congratulate the other team and treat them and their fans with respect. The university has recruiters that travel to schools across Texas seeking kids that want to be a part of this. Not all kids want to be athletes, but many do want to attend games and events and support teams made up of kids that they go to class with and they know to have Christian ideals. The football team had a very competitive year, the basketball boys are winning at present and baseball has started the year with a sweep. The softball girls have been national champs and have the largest fan base at present. All the buildings are well maintained and attractive. The place is on a hill and quite appealing. They will be opening a new dorm soon. It is located away from downtown, in mostly a residential area. I never heard of ETBU before my son attended there. But, I must say I have grown to admire their efforts at providing a place for young people to share their love of decency and God, while providing a good education and opportunity for competition. As a personal note, my youngest son graduated with a degree in Kinesiology and minor in Math. He married a young lady that was attending ETBU and lettered three years in softball. She graduated with a Business degree. Both are now successful teachers and coaches in public schools. I have another son that coaches there and his wife works there as well. Both are very involved in ETBU Christian activities and in their local church. The friends and kids they work with are very fine people and great role models for others. ETBU relies on contributions and donations. They have benefitted from strong ties with former students. My youngest and his wife have set up regular contributions to the University. The former students that I have met are proud of their university. I hope ETBU the best, we need places like this.

A small Baptist school hidden away on the hilltop on Grove Street. New construction blends into the old. Historic cemeteries are near the campus.

My husband and I took my daughter here to visit and inquire about their Women's basketball program. The entire ETBU family was AWESOME! From admissions to the the basketball staff, everyone was so nice and helpful. They even had my daughters name up on a large board announcing her visit. This is a 1st class campus. The dorms are great. The dining hall was clean. The grounds and entire campus was well maintained. Perfect environment for learning. I was so surprised how nice of a campus this is. (and we have visited over 5 colleges so far) This campus is at the top of the list...Great Job ETBU!

As I often return to ETBU for a short visit, I stand amazed at the appearance of my alma mater. My how it has changed from 1967 to 2014! Never have I regretted attending East Texas Baptist College upon the recommendation of the late Jimmy and Virginia Marshall. I had excellent instructors--Dr. Eunice Ware, Dr. Marvin Harris, Dorothy Nell Rogers, Dr. Seth Warden, Dr. Norman Fromm, and so many others. The quality of education that I received provided me forty most successful years in the high school and college classrooms teaching English and speech. I highly recommend for prospective students to consider seriously ETBU for their higher education.

Very nice campus with lots of new building going on this summer. Better than that, the staff was very friendly and helpful. My child is transferring there and had lots of questions for two department chairs, the finance office and the registrars office. They answered as much as they could and he left knowing what else had to be done. Great first impression!

I had never heard of East Texas Baptist University. We were in marshall and had a few minutes to drive to the university. Very impressive for a small town. The old buildings looked like something from the deep south and there was new construction taking place all over the campus which by the way is rather large. They have a nice sports complex on the back side of the university. I know nothing about the teaching or what the school offers. My impression is based solely on a drive through that looked like the school was well on its way to serval expansion projects. I think these schools in these small towns are great as it gives the locals and those close by a grand opportunity to attend a school not too far away and perhaps at a lower cost.

The campus is very nice. Every single person I met wanted to tell me how glad they were to have my family visiting, and wishing us luck in transferring here. If you're interested in music, these people have a really great program geared for everybody. Excellent cafeteria, I even love the housing conditions. Oh, and if you're a freshman, they're building a brand new building to house all of you. I saw the blue prints for the bedrooms, you'll love it.The only negative thing I can think of about the campus, is that they mow the lawn almost if not every day. People on campus kid that the mowers know your napping schedule.

This place has one of the most beautiful campuses we have ever seen. The school is growing but is still small enough that the professors actually know the students (and vice-versa). The business school is outstanding and the music department has a faculty like you would expect to find at the largest and best performing arts academy. The Nursing School has a 100% pass rate on state exams - unheard of! It is a treat just to drive through and see the young people here.
