The park is nice, not much to do and rv sites are very close. The lake is nice and it's a nice place to walk. It's close to our home so can run out there easily.

A scenic drive in, and more waiting in the park. Awesome morning, fog and wildlife on the trails. Nice friendly staff. They participate in Geocaching. Lots of camp sites. Only down side is that they don't have a store yet, but the rangers are well informed with directions to stores in area. Best marked trails Ive seen so far. They match up well with the trail maps.

Happened upon this location when trying to find a close State Park where you couldn't here traffic from the city. This is about an hour drive for us and is perfect! It's far enough from the city and highways so there is no traffic noise but close enough to home to where we can just go on a whim. The park is beautiful and there is a small lake with a boat ramp. The RV sites have full water/sewer hook ups and there are a lot of trails for hiking.

Went here for the day. And really was a nice quiet park. Staff was friendly. Clean restrooms. The park has some great views of the lake especially from the screen shelters. Overall a nice park. Will be back to camp for sure.

We had a beautiful Sunday and decided to drive to Meridian State Park, since we had never been. We found the park to be a diamond in the rough, with nice hiking trails, good, clean camping sites and have several enclosed shelters right on the lake. A great lake for fishing and the good weather brought out lots of fishermen and women. Some trophy fish have been caught out of this lake (8 to 12 lbs), even though there are two larger lakes nearby. A really nice, well kept park we will go back to, so we can camp and fish!

So decided to spend Thanksgiving camping. We arrived at the park around 2:30. The park wasn't full and we had our pick of campsites. We went with the rangers suggestion of site 16. Bad site next to a busy road. The next day we moved our camp to site 30. I didn't have running water, but it was right on the lake. The trail went through our camp, but since the park wasn't busy, it wasn't a problem. Yes the ranger does visit the camp sites but he is very nice and he just really cares about his park and wants to make sure that EVERYONE has a great time. We will be going back, possibly this weekend - two weeks later. This will be the first time we have visited a state park twice.

We enjoyed visiting this park as it is small in size and beautiful. It has a beautiful lake and unpaved hiking trails that have Geocaches nearby. The staff is friendly and accommodating. A gem. We will return.

Meridian is one of the best run parks in the Texas State Park system. It is clean and well tended. Shelters on the lake tend to be favored by families and fishermen. Those up on Juniper Ridge are a favorite of hermits who enjoy a view. Campsites near the entrance draw Motor homes and trailers. The primitive campsites across the lake have no public bathrooms and had zero campers the second week of June. The staff does a great job with the park, despite a shortage of funds and a Governor and Legislature who consider the very existence of a State Park to be a socialist abomination. On Juniper Ridge, shelter 12 gets full sun. Shelter 13 full shade. The rest are mostly shaded. All equi-distant from the bathrooms and showers.

We have been to this state park twice and really enjoy it! The trails are nice and shaded and lead to small dock overlooking the lake. Small playground for kids and nature center (was closed both times we were there). Great for day trip, have not actually camped there. We also found a couple of Geocaches for those that are into geocaching.

The 505-acre Meridian state park is a pretty and quiet camping park with nice trails and a 72-acre lake. There are only 31 camping sites in the park. My husband and I camped in the Crosstimbers campground in site #5 with full hookups and pull thrus. It was a nice location. We could hear little road noise from Texas highway 22 in the campground but it was not bad. The camp sites were a nice size. We had a nice picnic table, a fire ring and grill. We walked about 6 miles of trails. The red buds trees were in full bloom. There is a nice fishing pier. The park ranger and sheriff patrolled the park often. The shelters were rustic but looked nice. Shelter #12 was on a hill with a really nice view of the lake. Shelter #1 thru #6 were right on the water.

We’re tent campers but I’d advise a shelter for this one.Meridian is a small park. We loved the look of the screened in shelter on the Texas Parks and Wildlife website so we booked a premium shelter. There are 6 premium shelters at the Lakeside Campground and 2 available when we got there at 4:00 on Saturday. We chose #4. Lakeside Campground shelters are right on the water. Walk with your kids just yards away to swim or fish on the pier. They are close to the bathroom but not much privacy between shelters. At Juniper Ridge there’s more privacy between shelters. The view is woodsy and beautiful. One shelter, #12 has a view of the lake. That is the shelter shown on the Texas Parks and Wildlife website. We hiked on the trail that goes around the lake. It took about an hour. Some climbing up and down stone steps. Enjoyable trail with plenty of opportunity for pictures. One word about the Lakeside Campground and #12 at Juniper. Wind. We were there when March comes in like a lion. Saturday morning the wind drove us to pack up and move on.Side Note: If you camp as a couple only, don’t go on Spring Break weekend!

The park was quiet and clean. The amenities are somewhat limited. There are walking trails, a swimming area and basic fishing pier, but you’ll have to bring your own canoe. Bikes are only allowed on the paved road which is a rare for a state park. The ranger was also quite a presence at the campsites (maybe due to the construction going on at the time of our visit) but in our years of camping we have never had so many “friendly” visits from a park ranger.

This was a cool little park. The staff was very friendly. We felt very safe because the park ranger makes several trips through the park. Nice little fishing/boat launching dock. Lake has a limit on boat speed so that makes it nice. Good fun for all.

This is my family's favorite place for impromtu picnics and daily swimming jaunts. The park is clean, the swimming area is clean and it is safe. We also love to hike around the lake and it's a hiking trail that is good for kids as young as 3 if they like to walk.
