This is a very nice surprise if you've never visited this museum! Yes it is a small museum but that doesn't mean there is no quaility to their exhibitions. They are affiliated with the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC for 1 thing. This means they have to meet certain requirements . They also have exhibits each year that hold interest for children. Many times other artistic organizations join in with their creative presentations to have child's play. Kids get to visit the museum or see a play to experience the arts. They also have workshops for kids to do all kinds of art projects & may have an item they create & bring home possiblly. There's also a child's corner inside the building. Here kids get to do fun things to stir their imaginations. There are workshops for adults as well. Grown ups get an opportunity to express their creative juices also. You'll need to call the museum, go online or go by to learn when these workshops are & the cost to take one. On another note, to come to see an exhibit at the museum is free! I'm not sure if there are any that cost to attend. The exhibitions that come through here vary with something for everyone! There maybe a very modern exhibit 1 month but then a classical art display another month. Exhibits change out throughout the year. There are several galleries each with their own exhibits. All the artwork is displayed professionally with the correct amount of space given to each piece so the viewer won't feel crowded or bothered by other art on display. There is seating in each gallery & plenty of time allowed to view the art. There is also climate control for the artwork with a clean environment . ENAM has a beautiful garden behind their building. There are one of a kind sculptures in the garden with some that have running water that goes down the side of the statue & others that are made to play like a musical instrument. Flowers are planted & updated for each season many with wonderful smells. This is a scenery garden is made the way it is especially for vision impaired people. I have taken friends who may not have sight like I have but have the different elements in the garden stir their scenes. They can see thru their touch & smell. In the garden are sitting places with trees for shade. There's also a small free library with books you may read. It's a great little retreat for taking time to go & spend time to think or just enjoy. Inside of the museum is a gift shop of fun type artistic inspired items. Craft projects, jewelry & other items. The art museum has several fundraising events each year which are a lot of fun to go to. Their biggest event is Shrimpfest which is held the last Monday of Febuary at Barn G at the Ector County Coliseum in Odessa. Shrimp is cooked Cajun style along with corn on the cob, new potatoes. Coleslaw & bread is served with all this along with something to drink. It's all done in a New Orleans festival atmosphere with a live band, live auction & silent auction offering area artists art along with a wide variation of items to bid on. Other events happen each year which are just as much fun!! This is a little museum, but it's packed with so many activities, events, art projects & a whole lot more that you need to go & experience!! You may be surprised how much happens here!!!

The museum exhibition of renaissance keys were nicely displayed and informative. Very professional. I also enjoyed the outdoor art displays in the front areas of the building.

For a small art museum the Ellen Noel Art Museum is a classy place. They make sure to provide a wide selection of collections to show. The Icon exhibit has been a wonderful one with some of the best examples of that art! It's free and open to the public and is a welcome sight to artists out here. If you haven't visited the museum in a while then go and treat yourself to the wonderful art on display there. You'll be glade you did.

I went a field trip with my 4th grade students in October of 2013, but was just there 4/12 for the native flower and plant sale. It's a beautiful museum and lots of wonderful information.

This is one of the best museums in Odessa. The staff offers great activities for children which makes them want to visit museums more often. My nieces attend the monthly art sessions and they love them. They are always excited to go and even more impressed with the activites once they return. As a schoolteacher, my district offers a yearly trip to the Ellen Noel Art Museum and I am always satisfied with the activities and the displays. A wonderful place for a weekend family outing!

For 2013, The Ellen Noёl Art Museum is an official Smithsonian Affiliate, one of only two art museums in the state of Texas to have this status. The Ellen Noel has always had excellent exhibitions. Our favorite part visiting there is always The Sensory Garden. In 1998 the museum made a garden completely accessible and "user friendly" to visually and physically challenged visitors through design consultation with the Texas Commission for the Blind, the County Extension Service, and Permian Basin Master Gardeners. It's a beautiful and calming shady place.

Es el primer Museo de Arte al que voy que esta muy enfocado a actividades que puedan realizar los niños en relación a la exposición temporal que tenga el museo.
