This is an old hotel used in the late1800's. It is very interesting and you can see a lot of history from a time gone by. There isn't a lot to do in Pecos, but this is worth jumping off the xway. Also the scenery is worth the stop.

An old but once very busy 3 story hotel with 50 rooms is now a museum with 50 scenes of life in the old west beginning in the 1880s. There are rooms that look like old barbershops, old doctor offices, old school rooms, and old kitchens. There is a nice collection of rifles, ladies clothing, cowboy equipment and farm implements. You can spend a few hours or maybe a few days.

I've been here twice. It's well worth the $5 admission. There are three floors of old west history. A lot of is quite local so we skipped several rooms. The

Fabulous museum of the local history - housed in three floors of local artifacts in an old hotel. Must see if you are in the area.

Three floors of authentic historic scenes, furniture, pictures, plates, physicians office settings and the like. A real visit to a western history.

I used to live in Pecos, but never actually visited the museum. My boyfriend used to work there as a high school student, so fast forward 12 years later, and he decided to take me. It was so neat to see all of the history in that small town! I loved every minute of it, and being that my boyfriend used to work there, he knew all the hidden details about the place! It was like having my own tour guide.

They recreated an old saloon and has a little history about the area. A lot of the info is way too local - pictures and artifacts of local figures that probably doesn't have too broad of a reach. Touches on the role of the railroad and the life of the cowboy in the West and history of the Rodeo.Worth a stop to stretch your legs on your way through or to kill time if you are waiting (like I was) for Pody's BBQ to open :-)

This museum has three floors filled with historical memorabilia. It was very interesting and one of the best maintained small town museums I have seen. The staff is very friendly and made us feel welcome. I enjoyed the rooms that were staged to show a schoolroom, a kitchen, dining room, bridal suite, etc. It is well worth an hour or so of time and the $5 admission fee.

This museum was obviously put together with a lot of love & lot of help and donations from local families. 50 rooms are filled with memorabilia from the town. The ladies that work there are helpful, knowledgeable & take constant care of the establishment. Well worth the small admittance fee & the couple of hours to get an education on the Old West in Pecos!

It's $5.00 to get in. It is a self guided at your own pace museum. It takes about an hour or so. The cashier tells you which way to go and what to expect in each area of the museum. The first part of the museum has 2 places in the saloon where people were shot and killed. There are bullet holes in the saloon also. I did not ask if the saloon was haunted as a result of these quick deaths. Not only does the museum showcase Pecos history but highlights the contributions of women in western times and present, African Americans, native Americans and Hispanics. Rooms are arranged to reflect what a kitchen and a honeymoon suite might have looked like back in the old west times.

Really enjoyed my hour touring the 1896 Saloon with three floors of upstair rooms filled with memorabelia from the Pecos and Reeves County area. Authentic settings, furniture, clothing have been donated to depict life in this rugged area. Small entry fee is well worth reliving history.

While traveling through Pecos, we took the time to visit the local history museum. It's in an old hotel and they have "scenes" set up in each of the old hotel rooms. We spent almost 2 hours going through each of the exhibits. Very interesting and well worth your time to visit.

West of the Pecos museum was interesting and fun to learn about Judge Roy Bean. Book store has some nice items that you do not see other museums. Takes about 30 minutes fast or 1 hour slower paced. My 13 year old enjoyed as well.

I visited in 2012. It was very interesting. It is self guided. I would recommend it to anyone who visits Pecos. The women in the gift shop were very helpful too!
