The previous review says it all and is excellent. This museum was a surprise and is one of the nicest and most interesting museums I have visited. Director Marie Neff is a treasure and answered all my questions with her vast store of knowledge about the museum and the city of Post. The collection is so large that it is changed out 4 times a year, so folks need to go out to Post 3 or 4 times to really get an idea of all the wonderful things collected by Mr. and Mrs. McCrary. I understood that the Fall exhibit will include some of the hundreds of Nativity scenes collected around the world. Plan at least an hour visit. Highly recommended.

This fantastic museum is located on the second floor of an original building built by CW Post in 1911. (It is next door to the J Cruise Christmas Gallery.) It was built to house the art and artifact collection of Giles C McCrary and family. McCrary was an oil-operator, art collector, and rancher, and was mayor of Post from 1969 to 1991. The museum includes works that he collected over many years from trips throughout the world. The large collection on display includes Faberge eggs, ivory carvings from the Far East, Chinese silks and jade, Boehm porcelain, Russian lacquer boxes, Lalique crystal, to name just a few. It also includes works by artists such as Bob Guge, and R F Murphy.I was staying overnight in Post, and from the list of 3 Post museums I had, by chance this was the one I chose to visit - and what a great decision I made! Upon entering the museum, Marie Neff provides a very warm welcome, and provides a guide booklet with details of the exhibits by window and shelf number. All very easy to follow, and very informative. Marie is always available to answer questions and provide additional explanations - her historical and art knowledge is incredible. I feel privileged to have met this wonderful lady. I also feel privileged to have seen this tremendous and diverse collection of art and artifacts.
