With cities like Plano, and McKinney creating downtown as a destination, Richardson is way behind. There is a great pizza place and an old downtown bar, but it is slow to change and become a place to hang on the weekend. I feel part of it is the fact that we have , Indian, Italian, Asian, American ethnic places all in one place and none rising above the rest.

Not too much to downtown Richardson these days. It was better years ago, but now most businesses have moved on to Plano or Frisco. I dislike the idea of moving away from your own city.

this was a tiny town before being overrun as a suburb. It is a wonderful suburb. well run well governed with great people and businsesses but this is not really much of an attraction.

Downtown Richardson may not have much to offer, although there are scattered throughout the downtown several restaurants, many of which are Chinese. I note from other reviews that the actual downtown may not be all that adventurous. I had reviewed downtown in 2012 thus this is an update I should have made at that time that included pictures. About two block from downtown, just past the fire department is a large free standing shopping center that has been transformed into a Chinatown. Rather neat I must admit. There are large statutes for each of the entrances and when I last visited every store was Chinese with several restaurants on the site. Plenty of free parking. Park and take a stroll along the fronts of all the stores and restaurants.

Simply an old, neglected trashy area . Only survival is the heavy traffic from 75 toward east of beltline.Actually the whole area stinks and needs to be avoided.

I hope to see the area encouraged by our City Council. Very few businesses survive for long on the two block strip on Main Street.....mostly repair stores, bail bonds, hookah bars, vacuums for sale. However, within the 5 block radius, you have the wonderful: Del's charcobroiled burgers, Indo Pak, Chameli, The Richardson Police Staton and Court, A Firestation, China Town [Really, I am not joking!], and Afra.

I live here and the photo doesn't look current. The area has been over run by hookah bars in recent years. I hope the city really listened to those of us who attended the redevelopement town hall meetings. Then we might return to the shops and ethnic restaurants with more charm and universal appeal. Til then tourist should head to the next stop on the Red Line for Plano's downtown for more shops, restaurants, a park and farmer's market.

I traveled to the area and did not have my camera, thus I have to return and make pictures so I can post them on this site. Just North of downtown Richardson and the main fire station (Greenville Avenue) there is a real Chinatown. Large entrance signs have now been built at the edge of the large parking lot. These signs are very colorful and what one sees in large cities such as San Francisco and even in the far east. The stores in Chinatown are varied with everything from a bank to groceries to restaurants. Every sign and window painting is in Chinese. This is a neat place to take a visit if you are in the Richardson area. I will get some photos soon on the site so you can see what has been done to the area.

If you are looking for middle eastern food and hookah...look no more! Great places in downtown Richardson!

I drive through this area of Richardson every day. There are 2 or three blocks of old resturants and young drunks. I am waiting for the area to be repurposed and be made a night spot due to the proximty of DART.

Visit BAM at the NW corner of Greenville and Belt Line. Great fun and excitement.

I like it because there are a ton of ethnic restaurants and you really get a feel of the old town. A real homey feel, before all the new construction and urban sprawl.

I noticed the heading needed a review and since I have been to downtown Richardson many many times I thought I might give a shot at a review. I am assuming the original means the section along Belt Line Road just east of central expressway as that is really the only remaining old downtown area. Newer retail is now west of central along Belt Line Road and many other businesses have moved to the Greenville Ave area where there is a strip mall. There are few stores still remaining downtown though. A camera repair chop os unique in this day and time and this place repaired high end cameras. The other retail stores are not really noteworthy as they include an array of different type stores. On what I call the back side (south) of Belt line there are several Chinese restaurants.

Mediterranean... Indian... Chinese... Thai... Vietnamese... Japanese. They're all here in this Asian immigrant melting pot neighborhood! Have a bite at your favorite... then walk the neighorhood and window-shop the others. More info and lots of pics here: http://antonio1028.wordpress.com/2012/02/12/east-of-east-3/

Nas redondezas da cidade nao existe opcoes para shopping. E preciso ir ate Allen ou downtown para achar varias opcoes de lojas ou outlets
