The building is beautiful at night with the route 66 neon lighting. The museum inside is entertaining and educational. They also have excellent coffee. The volunteers are pleasant and informative as well.

We loved seeing the old Tower Plaza. It was just so neat to be able to visit this special place from American's Road. I love art deco architecture and most anything to do with classic automobiles so I loved stopping for this special gem from the US's past.

On the biggest traveling day of the year, every convenience store and gas station across the Panhandle was filled with travelers en-route to their Turkey-Day destinations, and this place was closed ALL DAY! Disappointed Cars fans in my backseat!!! Thankfully, the OUTSIDE is really the part that matters, and although my wallet rejoiced at not dropping (probably!) $100 on Rt66 souvenirs, the Tower Station/U-Drop Inn redeemed itself by having its BEAUTIFUL neon on a timer. The kids were thrilled to see the real-life Ramone's all lit up. The restoration is fantastic. I only wish ALL of Shamrock had retained its splendor and pride of architecture and history.FYI, City of Shamrock-- lots of cars with kids in car seats and booster seats approached while we were exploring. They slowed down, saw you were closed, and continued on. Missed opportunities abound.

Being two Irish travellers we couldn't pass through Shamrock without stopping for a gander! We were glad we did! The ladies in this establishment were very nice and welcoming! They had lots if interesting stories and info and the souvinear shop is great for Route 66 travellers!

We were riding back on I-40, (old 66) and the Tower Plaza was certainly one of the best old historical landmarks along the way. Extremely well preserved and restored. Unfortunately we were not able to get in because they are closed on Sunday. But worth the stop. Not far off the interstate and in the middle of town too. So easy to get to, not adding much time to your trip.

The U-Drop has been expertly restored and currently houses the Chamber of Commerce and a lovely gift shop. Hoping the cafe will one day be back in business now that grant fulfillment have been completed. Take your camera because the U-Drop has neon and Art Deco architecture to die for!

It was a delight to see what some believe to be the tallest water tower in the West and then to drive down the street and see several other buildings that were clearly of the same era.

The lady who helped us brought to life the spirit of historic Rt. 66 by being informative and very welcoming to our family. We almost didn't stop and my wife turn around you know you want to stop and I'm sure glad we did. Great displays about the history and cool memorabilia.

The renovated “U-Drop Inn / Coneco Tower” is very impressive. It’s an art deco building built in 1936 but due to the excellent renovation work is looks new! The surrounding area looks a bit bleak. There is a small gift shop staffed by a very friendly lady. It’s a fantastic photo opportunity. A previous reviewer mentioned a café, but I wasn’t aware there was one.Not to be missed.

We stopped to see the old station, and were warmly greeted by the ladies in the gift shop, Nice little display, and history section. The souvenirs were priced surprisingly lower than some of the other places we have stopped. Great little side trip to stretch your legs.

One of the most striking Art Deco buildings along Route 66 is the restored U-Drop Inn and Conoco Tower in Shamrock at the junction with the US 83. It was built in 1936 and it seems quite quirkily out of place when you come upon it travelling westbound. Inside there is a small collection of memorabilia and a good value souvenir shop run by the local Chamber of Commerce. Well worth the stop and very photogenic. For film fans you will recognise the building as Ramone's auto body workshop in Cars. A friendly welcome by the ladies in the small shop, and reasonable prices as well.

Great photo opportunity. Theres a Gift Shop with a small selection of memorabilia including some locally made T-shirts, pictures, and such. We didn't stop in at the Cafe, but it looked clean, may still have some more renovation to go. Definitely worth the stop even if your just driving through.

This is worth a stop for photos. The U Drop Inn and old gas station are in mint condition! only 2 blocks off I-40.
