Have been going to H & H for twenty years when's El Paso The Haddad brothers have the best huevos rancheros I have ever eaten. Cafe holds about 20 diners at most, good is prepared right in front of you.Don't be fooled by the outside appearance go in check out humble inside and then sit down to some marvelous Mexican foodBob young

If you are looking for a hole-in-the-wall authentic mexican restaurant for a great price this is the place! It's like "Cheers", they welcome me with and smile every time my husband and I would come for lunch. I never even have to order, they know my order by memory and even my beverage choice (and to stay light on the jalapeños!) As for the comment about the owner being grumpy, untrue. Maynard is generous, kind man and a loyal UTEP supporter. I have sense moved from El Paso and this is the one place that I would ever come back for. DELICIOUS!

I loved the whole idea of eating in this unusual setting, but the serve was poor and the owner was an opinionated grump.

H&H is the real deal. You pull up, drop your keys, and step inside where the menu shouldn't even be necessary. You're here for the Chile Rellenos and they won't disappoint. They're fluffy, spicy and delicious. The portions are a bit much, so don't overdo it. Additionally, H&H scares up a mean breakfast of huevos rancheros. They're just the right amount of spicy without being a challenge. By the time you finish your meal, your car is ready and you're off. Luckily El Paso is dusty so you'll no doubt return soon.

I don't know too many places to get your car washed while you eat. We were in town for a football game and had heard of it for years. We were there for breakfast. Food was great (except no homemade tortillas!) and the owner was a character. He chatted us up right away and even loaned us his newspaper to read while we ate. One of a kind place for sure!

I usually arrive at H & H with a filthy car and wind up leaving with a smile, a clean car and a tummy full of good Mexican food. The owner is hilarious and always makes me smile. I like sarcasm. The food is good and if you like hot chile, this is your place. This is an institution in El Paso.

This place has gotten a lot of press so expectations were too high. It was nice but not great. BUT, it was fun and did bring a smile to get a car wash while eating at a fun diner.

If you're into history and grumpy old men, come here. You can see the kitch of died in the wool republicans here. Pictures of Laura Bush, and the owners at the White House dinner. The food is pretty good, beans made with lard, pretty tasty. Chile rellenos are made fresh on Tuesdays. The mole is Wednesday's special and pretty good. My only beef is that they assemble your food and then cook it in the microwave oven on plastic plates(bio-hazard?) And if you go in the summer the air is blasting on your food so you must eat quick to keep it warm. Order fresh tostada chips before lunch, it is worth it, except on Tuesdays, because they just fried a ton of rellenos in that oil and it will be yucky. The waitresses and cooks are super nice.

Small, simple, but it's the real thing. Great Mexican food and breakfast. Near downtown.

Perhaps not THE best of Mexican restaurants in El Paso but certainly the most interesting, by far! I've been an H&H fan for years and they've never let me down. The cooks/servers are not chatty-flirty, they just prepare and serve good home style Mexican food. The place is crowded and busy at meal times, don't be shy about sitting next to a stranger or two at the counter. That person at your elbow may be a laborer, a student, a well-off businessperson...and that's part of the enjoyment of H&H. Nothing on the menu is bad, but...c'mon, don't order the pancakes! H&H is where you should order "comida casera, amigo."

El Paso has some great food. But the food absent the atmosphere wouldn't make places like H & H stand out. Let's say that this place wouldn't win awards on "Top Chef." However when do you get a chance to eat in an old car wash. If you can appreciate the small diner feel of this place and want to chat up one of El Paso's folkloric figures (Maynard, the owner) then H & H has to be on your list of places to visit. Try the Green Enchiladas on Fridays or the Beef tacos.

Awesome food and great deal on a car wash!

Been in El Paso 2 years; I've heard many folks rave about the food, especially the burritos... it's my New Years resolution to go soon!

This is a great little dive restaurant. Reminiscent of the old time diners, the ones that seat about 20 tops. The place is old, but full of character. You will get a good meal at a great price. The Mexican style steak picado my favorite. Stick with the daily special if you just need to fuel up. I also enjoy picking up burritos here you can get 4 for $10. The cooks and owner are great fun to talk to. Ohh yeah you can also get your car washed full service while you are eating, and even top off the gas tank.
