I've only been there during the day without a concert. However it looks very cozy and clean. I heard that concert tickets are free but you have to pick 'em up in time. So check out the schedule and time for pre-sales. If you could not get a ticket for your lovely show, you go there anyway and pick a place on the green on the hill behind. At good weather I expect it a much greater experience than sitting in the theatre chairs.

Miller Outdoor Theater is a true Houston gem, with a calendar of events that brings the best performing arts shows (local, national and international) to the public for free. There is a covered seating area for which you can pick up tickets earlier in the day, in case you really want to sit in a chair. But the grassy hill is the place to be if you've got kids. Come ready for a picnic, and let the kids absorb the arts without pressure to sit still through an entire performance. They can just get up and safely play on the grass or hill behind the viewers. If you miss being able to go to a show because you can't take the kids, this is it for you.

We took my grandson to see Frogz. The price was great (free) and the theater was clean. We will definitely be back for future shows.

If you are ever in the city and looking for something different, but incredibly awesome to do, Miller Outdoor Theater is the place I suggest you go! When my friends come to Houston this is one of the places I like to show off. It is an outdoor theater with a covered pavilion and seating. That is one perk about this place, but the hidden treasure is what they call "Hippie Hill". Behind the pavilion is a big hill that can seat thousands, (yes I have witnessed thousands). What do they do here? Concerts, outdoor movies, ballets, symphonies, you name it, they have it! My friends and I take a nice big blanket, and a cooler. Inside the cooler we have snacks, food, alcohol (shhh), drinks and whatever else the occasion calls for. We all sit on "Hippie Hill" and enjoy whatever show we are there to see while laughing, talking, drinking, eating. I can attest that this place has lured me to events I'd probably never attend on my own. ex: concert halls, operas, or other appropriate venues, but the atmosphere of MOT continually brings me back. I enjoy sitting on the hill with good company, hearing good music, watching great theater, and laughing while enjoying a beverage of my choice, and tasty food I packed to go along with it. They even have concession stands, but I hardly ever go to them, (free fun). There is something about sitting on the hill, hearing good music or watching a good show that keeps me coming back every time. What's also amazing is they have events that you can bring that special someone to for a date, events you can bring the kids and family to, or those nights when you just want to fly solo and be alone, that's ok too. I especially recommend the Motown Review they do every year around Memorial weekend! Great music, and fun, this is definitely a family & friends event! However, you must get there early, and I mean hours early-literally. This is when the crowds swarm in by the thousands, but totally worth it. I can't say anything bad about this place because I've yet to experience a bad time, and you won't either!

Miller is always a great time with FREE shows. Fun way to bring a picnic and beverages for a great date or time with friends. My only complaint is the lack of shows as it cools down. I'd prefer to bundle up and head out but I guess not most of Houston does. The best shows are during the super hot summer nights.

We LOVE this venue and consider it one of the best things about Houston. Free shows including top acts from all over the world including a broadway production, symphony, ballet, Chinese acrobats, Japanese drummers just to name a few. Seats are available - you can pick up free tickets day of performance or get empty seats immediately prior to the show. We prefer to sit on the hill where you can bring chairs or blankets and picnic and wine - no glass so bring plastic cups. Even in the heat of the summer, there is a nice breeze that keeps it cooler. You'll see all ages here loving these performances. Located in the museum area of Houston which has many incredible museums and gardens.

Always a good show and always free to the public. Set on the hill and watch a play or listen to a concert.

If you are coming to visit Houston or are a resident of the city, you have to take advantage of attending a show at the MOT. You can pay to have seats, or you can join the masses on the hill with blankets and coolers enjoying a picnic while watching a show- for free! I personally really like the MoTown night with the old classics, but there are a ton of options. Parking is a little bit of a pill so I would strongly recommend either getting there early or carpooling with others.

Miller Theatre is a must if you spend any time in Houston. It is situated in Hermann Park in the Museum District. I have seen everything from Ballet, opera, symphony to great musicals and plays and cultural events. It closes for a few months in the winter, but most weekends something is on for all tastes. Did I mention that it is all FREE!

I recently went to celebrate el grito of independence of Mexico. They had musical performance and dancers it was all quite beautiful and very organized. The best part was it was free!!! It's an excellent place to go on a picnic date.

I did not see a show but I did revisit a fond childhood memory of rolling down the hill at Miller theater. The place is just as special today as it was in 1976 when I saw it for the first time as a young boy. All of Hermann park is impressive but Miller Theater is jewel in the crown.

I was invited by my co-worker to attend an outdoor theater park classical music concert. The location has two sections. The seating section under the modern design pavilion, and the soft meadows that create a natural amphitheater seating arrangement. We brought our lawn chairs and snacks as enjoyed a grand display of various classical music. Afterwards, we when to one of the nearby restaurants to cap the night.

The Miller Outdoor theatre has been a Houston institution for over 30 years. They feature excellent shows that cater to people from every walk of life. They have musicals produced by the Theater Under The Stars. They also feature different shows, from Taiko Drum performances to Dance Performances from around the world. I hope that more people support this excellent venue, as this gives Houston more of a world class city feel!

On our visit to Miller Outdoor Theater we went to see Mercury Orchestra. I had hesitated in the past to go thinking it would be hard to get a spot to see the entertainment. I was very pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to park and get to the venue. The entertainment for the most part is free and all you have to do is show up and enjoy. If you want to sit in the seats available under the cover you do have to obtain tickets in advance. However, acoustically speaking it was much better sitting on the lawn. I would show up early if you want the pic of the best area to sit. We took blankets and chairs so we could sit in either area. Although we only brought lite snacks, some had full picnic dinners with wine. There is a concession stand but we did not partake. Note of warning, no glass containers are allowed although we did see plenty of wine bottles. I also thought the sounds around us would be a distraction but as soon as the orchestra started I forgot all about them. The night was beautiful, the music relaxing and peaceful. I am looking for the next event hopefully this coming weekend.
