Although small, it is big for West Texas lake comparisons which are relatively few and far between. This one is NOT free and is gated but if your inclined, fishing, water skiing, camping and hiking are available. Hot summer days can be VERY busy. The lake is about 5 miles east of Lubbock on E. 50th St/FM 835.

The residents should not be lowering their expectations of what is acceptable to live and recreation in. If you accept S.H.I.T. than that is what you will get. RESIDENTS SHOULD BE DEMANDING ACTION TO RENOVATE THIS LAKE! Don't be passive and say OH! this is what we have. We are AMERICANS with the freedom to get S.H.I.T. changed. My family and I moved to Lubbock a year ago with the Military. We have been trying to find recreation areas and came across Buffalo Springs Lake. WOW!!!!!!!! What a S.H.I.T. T. hole.Garbage all over, picnic areas are dilapidated. This park doesn't seem to have anyone caring for it.Their seems to be a huge infestation of FLIES. "DON'T TRY TO COOK AND EAT OUTSIDE" The flies will eat your food before you can. The picinic sites are so bad from neglect that it's unbelivable that there is a entrance fee. "What the hell are they doing with the monies from the entrance fees" . Certainly not reinvesting in the park or paying someone to pick up the garbage. We flew our childrens grand parents down from New York to visit and took them to Buffalo Springs Lake. What an embarrassing situation for us to take them there, but for Buffalo Springs, Lubbock and Texas for having such a disgusting place for their citizens to relax and have fun. I almost forgot to mention the garbage in the water ways and the camping equipment and other stuff that was abandoned and no one from the park ever picked up. HELLO BUFFALO SPRINGS LAKE, FIX THE PARK AND STOP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING WITH THE ADMISSION MONIES, BECAUSE IT'S NOT HELPING THE PARK! WE ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED AND WON'T BE BACK! We were there less than 2 hours and counldn't take the STENCH AND FLIES.

If you are from or have lived where there are lakes, rivers or other water attractions, you will not be impressed. Imagine a lake with a road around most of it, houses built on both sides of said road, trees, and a few comfortable places to stop your car and fish or picnic. That is about all there is. Still, it is all we have out here, so us locals don't mind it.

We recently went to Buffalo Springs Lake and camped for the weekend. What a beautiful place out here in the flat plains of west Texas! They have 102 RV hookup spots with some even being along the shoreline! We fished all around the lake and enjoyed the new crappie house near the bridge. It even had lights so we could fish at night! Our kids cooked marshmallows over a campfire and had the time of their lives! The staff was friendly and helped us locate a great RV spot. We would recommend this park for a family outing!

Buffalo Springs Lake is a nice little lake to get away for a few hours and play in the water, go fish, ski or ride the tube. It has a nice little restaurant that has really surprisingly good food and the service is great. So, if you need to see if your boat is running up to snuff, go camping for the weekend, get away for a few hours, this is the place to go!

Love going to Buffalo Springs Lake. They have 2 beaches and many camping and tent sites. Their bathrooms and showers are clean and very well kept. They have great shade and able to meet new friends and enjoy family and friend time.

Camped overnight with the family on 8.20.14. BSL is great and has improved immensely over the last five years. New restrooms and updated campgrounds are a plus. The gate keeper with the really long hair was so polite and helpful. My family loves BSL and only saw the trash that people threw on the ground and not in the trash containers. The maintenance department came around and picked up trash many times throughout our visit. This is a great place to bring your family and have an actual camping experience with out a television.

We have been going to Buffalo for the last two years and enjoy it! It's close to home and everyone comes and goes as jobs allow! Sure it could stand some work, but that doesn't stop our family from enjoying our weekend trips. As for trash, yep its there, but who puts it there? We have an RV and just before we leave we pick up anything left on the ground. Personal responsibility goes a long way regardless to where your at! Is the lake problem free, no it isnt, but we love it, and will be there as often as time allows!

The lake could definitely use more investment to keep up with the demands of record attendance this year. Nobody cleans the bathrooms, crumbling concrete picnic tables from 50 years ago, and not enough staff on hand during the summer months. Trash is everywhere. All the rates are too high for what the guests receive.

The Lake is the only nice thing about Buffalo Springs. Too much garbage. The place is not very well maintain at all. The parks and recreation needs to do something about this. Not worth the money to stay overnight. What a Shame!

This place is horrible. It was covered in garbage, and clearly not maintained. We saw and reported an injured animal to the park, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and the wildlife center in lubbock in hopes someone would come catch and give it vet attention or at least end it's suffering. We also had my nephews in town, and when the 6 year old had to use the bathroom, the toilets in the picnic areas were so disgusting that he refused to go in so we drove him to the marina to use theirs. This was not the case of a picky kid- he opened the door and was basically swarmed by a thousand flies, I wouldn't have let him in there for sanitary reasons anyway. This place was disgusting and I reported the events of our 2 hours at the lake to the park and the parks department. Definitely was not representative of the way most other lakes or parks in Texas are kept up. We paid $18 for 4 of us to get in for 2 hours and it was a giant waste of money and time. If you have kids, take them to main event in town instead, nephews had more fun there and it was clean.
