The best in Lubbock and one of the best in Texas, but it comes with a price. It's not cheap for one, so try finding deals. Three things to look out for: ONE- Magnetized golf ball SAND TRAPS everywhere, they have a way of sucking your ball in. TWO - WIND, from any and every direction, both subtle and 30+ mph. Bad news for a slicer. THREE - the greens are slick. How frustrating is it to give the ball a gentle tap only to see it roll to Amarillo? But beautiful views and strategic hole placements makes that tap in from 160 out a feeling of pure joy, only felt by beating a tough course like this one, at least for one hole. Definitely worth it.

The course was fairly nice (and very nice for Lubbock), although whoever places it on those top 10 lists of public courses is smoking something. Beyond the course, the carts were dirty and falling apart, and the GPS did not work. The supposed pin placements were nowhere near accurate so it was a guessing game most of the time. The bathrooms in the clubhouse were filthy. There were no diagrams of the holes so that kept us guessing as well. There was no beverage cart on a Friday afternoon. With a small investment and some training, this place could be really nice. Tech should be much more demanding of Troon Golf, the management company.

Loved it but putting on the green was like putting on a concert surface; super quick. The club house was very nice! The day we were there the wind was from the north so it was a bit more difficult on some holes and easier on the harder ones.

One of the best golf courses in the nation. Greens and fairways well-maintained. Challenging, but worth the green fee!

Definitely one of the best public golf courses in the state. Easily accessible to Texas Tech. We both had an enjoyable roundl

Course is challenging, lots of ways to get into trouble. This makes the course one of the best in Texas.

This course was designed for the collegate golf team at Texas Tech. It has many sandtraps and few level spots. The prevailing West Texas wind makes a challange for all golfers. One of the best courses in West Texas.

Played while wife and kids went shopping. Rather busy that weekend. The Marshell came up to me and apologized for the slow play. Had a nice converstion with him. He told me there were close to 100 sand bunkers on the course. I told him tha I believed him. I was on number 5 and hit about 30 by then. He laughed. It is a challenging course, Rolling hills make you pray for a good shot to land on the green. Not all holes were hard, but it really make you try your best.

The Rawls is a top notch college course which although advertised as for everyone is not for beginners or those who have trouble with bunkers and mobility. In excellent shape now that under non university management.

The Rawls course is a great Links style golf course. Very challenging golf course but beware of the bunkers. Beautifully designed but treacherous if you land in them. The greens are slick and challenging. The views and landscape are incredible. Very unexpected and not like a lot of the flat areas of Lubbock. The food in the clubhouse was very good as well. It is a Troon course and is well kept.

Enjoyed playing at a top ranked golf course in the state of Texas. Enjoyed the great golf tournament that I played in.

The Rawls Golf Course looks like a miniature piece of the Caprock of West Texas with lots of hills and valleys. A links course that will challenge your ability to miss the bunkers and find the fairway. Bunkers that play like canyons. Water hazards that call your ball. If it was easy we wouldn't play here.

Lots of rolling terrain which was a surprise in Lubbock. Troon Golf manages the course so you get everything Troon Golf delivers from conditions to the clubhouse. Plays like a links course, especially when the wind is up. Very playable for all levels yet challenging at the same time. And the green fee on a Wednesday morning was $33 - WOW. This is a top notch course - PLAY IT!!!

challenging course in great shape. Laid back atmosphere. Fairly difficult for a 25 handicap, but I managed to stay out of the pot bunkers all day. Love the clubhouse with patio, good food & service.

The Rawls Course, located next to the Texas Tech campus, is a very fun design, and well maintained. Although everything in Lubbock is flat, a lot of dirt was brought in to create mounds and give the course an appearance far different from the surrounding area. The holes can be challenging, but the fairways are fairly generous, so it is difficult to lose too many golf balls. It is a fun golf course to play.
