Walking this space can be a calming, spiritual experience. My husband has gone here, several times, while on business. He brought us here - myself and son - to experience this sacred space.

We decided to stop here because the appearance looked so strange from I80. We were not disappointed. The rock formations are amazing! One even looked like a shark!! Please stop when going to Cheyenne, well worth it!!!

We hiked all day and loved the views! Everyone should go when visiting Laramie. Definitely coming here again when in Laramie. This could be an all day trip or just a few hours, depending on how long you want to be there.

Interesting rocks. We arrived during a thunderstorm with lots of lighting. It was very eerie. This recreation area includes a campground run by the USDA Forest Service. You can hike, climb the rocks or fish. It is easy to get to - right off I 80 exit (329 ) 27 miles west of Cheyenne WY same exit as the Ames Monument. 8,200 elevation. We were headed west on a long road trip. This was a nice place to stop and have a break.

Amazing scenery and the rock formations are fascinating, not quite like anything I've seen anywhere else. It is kind of hard to find detailed information about parking and hiking online, but we parked at the main entrance up the road from exit 329 off I-80 and picked up a trail map from the self-service entrance kiosk when we arrived (we visited at a slow time on a weekday in mid fall). The trails have few markings so study your map well and be sure to have someone in your party with a good sense of direction. The scenery is well worth the effort.

First of all, let me just say that this place took me entirely by surprise. This was an afternoon breakaway trip we took from Cheyenne, where my family and me were staying with my grandparents. My parents had told me about how they would visit this place as kids, but I wasn't expecting much. When we got to the park, the sky was getting dark and by the time we had parked, it started to pour down rain. Luckily, the weather passed quickly and we were able to hike a short trail that looped through part of the rocks. This is just a fantastic natural space and my brother, dad, sister, and I all climbed the rocks and enjoyed awesome views. Entry to the park is a $5 honor fee system, which is well worth it. There are also camping facilities. It's a great spend of an afternoon and only about 30 miles west of Cheyenne.

Great for climbers (which we are not), picnics and camping. The infrastructure (camping areas and facilities) was very unobtrusive and didn't fight for attention with the gorgeous scenery.

The area is steeped in legends and you can feel the sanctity of the place. There were many hikers around, even for early October. Easy hiking. I'm not a rock climber but I can see how it would be a great place to go. Not to be missed if you're in the area.

Went with my young kids and scrambled up the rocks near the picnic area. It was a blast and beautiful views from the top.

We lived in Laramie years ago. This trip we came back to see old sights. We went to our home, which we originally bought in 1971 for $18,200. We enjoyed downtown, and then the sights around town. Vedawoo was always a favorite. The rock formations are easy to climb and explore. And easy access to I80 just west of Laramie. If you have the time, go to this out of the way site for a great picnic or rock climbing experience.

Be prepared for awesome trails leading around and through rock formations that can woo you into trying to climb them. It is a favorite place for those who like to rappel and fine-hone their climbing skills. The use of Vedauwoo for the annual vertical dancing show took my breath away. Whether you are there to hike, climb, picnic or camp in the summer, it's also a great place to x-c ski or snowshoe in the winter. I was even surprised to see 3 moose grazing on brush- I was careful not to alarm them. I never tire of the beauty of Vedauwoo.

Took a nice hike at Box Canyon trail up to see I-80 in the distance. Enjoyed the rock formations and finding the "faces" in the rocks.

Wow... spend an hour hiking its is so nice one of my best places in wyoming. It is about a 20 minute drive from Laramie. Natures best place to hike and climb

Vedauwoo has some wonderful rock formations for sight seeing and climbing, and the facilities for overnight camping are great. It is a quick day-get-away from Cheyenne or Laramie which is convenient for a picnic or an escape for a few hours. I took the trail around the formations as I am not a climber, and it was an easy enjoyable walk. I did not give this an excellent rating because there are not a variety of activities a family can do here if you don't trail-bike or climb, especially for children. Their bikes kept them busy, so pack them along. There is an ATV trail, but it is very short, and there is not enough water here to fish or swim in. This is probably good because this place is packed constantly, and only the rocks could survive that many people for a summer.

We hiked the Turtle Rock loop (3 miles) and the Box Canyon trail (1/2 mile). Minimal elevation gain, so most everyone can do these two short hikes. You'll see wildflowers and interesting rock formations. I'd allow about 2 hours, or more if you want to explore the rocks or have a picnic.Parking in the central area can be crowded / impossible. The parking by the east trailhead for the Turtle Rock loop was pretty much empty. Make sure you either pay or have a pass - the forest service staff assigned to this area have apparently been tasked solely with checking that people have paid to be there.
