This museum is packed with information and interesting artifacts. They operate by donations only. It takes a lot of time to thoroughly look at everything and read all the info. A definite must visit!!

We were looking for evidence of my wife's family in Sundance at the turn of the 20th century. Rocky, the creator, went out of his way and helped us find some relations, hooked my wife up with one of her distant relatives, and really made the town come alive. You need to visit this museum. It will be much better when they are in their new digs at the old upper school - - "Old Stony".

We visited the museum in August 2104. We were very impressed by the collection and with the curator. We talked with him for quite awhile about the area and the museum. He gave us some tips for the rest of our trip, which we ended up modifying based on his recommendation. We are so glad we did or we would have missed Fort Laramie. Great place!

What a hidden gem!! This museum in the cellar of on of the county building is amazing. It describes the native Indian history, evolution, and eventual demise. It discusses the local geology. There are several examples of early settlers life on the prairie. The is a good explanation of the Buffalo Jump archaeological Indian site. There is a nice description of the local flora and fauna. There is also a decent gun and knife collection. All of the items and information are provided through local loans and donations. This little museum was impressive as many larger fully funded museums.

This is a great stop. Easy to view all exhibits with interesting facts and legend. Not crowded, which made for an enjoyable visit. You can easily spend 2-3 hours if you enjoy history and The Sundance Kid.Original exhibits for ole Sundance's trial, including trial documents. This is a free museum, donations are optional. They are trying to move into another historical building in the future. This was a pleasure to visit and the Volunteer attendant was a nice friendly lady, willing to answer questions. We enjoy the small town museums. A nice break from the busy touristas.

The museum is housed in the basement of the County Building. Great exhibits on the Sundance Kid, the nearby Buffalo Jump and the history of the county. When they move to their larger quarters it will greatly help as they are cramped for space.

We were in town to eat and seen the sign for the museum so decided to check it out. Very small but packed with lots of antiques and information about the area an letters and photos about the past. Information about Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid that you won't see just anywhere. They have a building available to move to but have to do some renovations before that can happen. No charge but donations are accepted.

What a great find. We had to stop for gas on he way to devil's tower. Sign said Sundance Kid Museum, so we stopped. They have 1 of 3 remaining American Flags fom the battle at Gettysburg. All of the Sundance Kid trial docs including the original furniture. Tons more. Can't say enough.

Sundance had one of the first nuclear power plants in the US. There is a cool article hear about a woman that had been scalped by Indians and lived. The manager of the museum is a wealth of information take a minute to ask him for his recommendations.

Last week, we stopped in Sundance to take a picture of the famed Sundance Kid statue and happened on this real neat museum full of memorabilia, dioramas, etc. on the same block. We spent over an hour here but could have stayed longer since everywhere you looked there was a lot of fascinating displays and a knowledgeable person who was happy to converse with you. This place is well worth your time and a visit and was one of the main highlights in our trip to the Black Hills, Cody, and Yellowstone. DON'T MISS IT!

Plan to spend a couple of hours looking at the displays and reading the history of the area. It is not a big place but is packed with so much history. Stop and learn about the Sundance Kid's history. This could be the place where he started his life of crime. The Museum is free, but leave a small vacation. I mean if you stopped at the Vore site and paid $15 a couple you can easily drop a few bucks here. Posted by grinandbrakeit.com
