trail up over white mountain, scenic, horses everywhere if your looking for them. Pilot Butte is the center piece of the tour, can be seen for miles.

We almost missed the connection to the Wild Horse Canyon Road in Green River, traveling east on Hwy 80, using GPS navigator on phone. It's not really difficult to find, just follow the directions on the web link below. We arrived about an hour before sunset and only saw one wild horse, however there was lots of fresh evidence (roadside poop) that the stallions, at least, had been by recently. The road is hard packed clay and a nice drive for a standard vehicle. There are information signs staggered along the route to read. Extremely great vistas for photo ops. Midway on the route is a road leading to Pilot Butte. We started down that road but had to turn back after a few hundred yards. The ruts in the clay were too significant and would be better handled in a Jeep-like vehicle. If I pass that way again and have time I will take binoculars and a brunch and just park and wait. http://www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/field_offices/Rock_Springs/wildhorses/tour.html

Galloping across the prairie with manes and tails flying and hooves kicking up dust, there is nothing more iconic in the West than a wild horse. Whether you spot them racing like the wind, clustered around a waterhole or grazing contentedly, wild horses evoke a bit of the Old West, erasing the 21st and 20th centuries and shuttling you back to the 1800's. One of the best spots to see wild horses is in southwestern Wyoming, just a tad north of Rock Springs on a landscape of sagebrush and rock. Here on the mesa like summit of White Mountain, the Pilot Butte Wild Horse Scenic Loop skitters roughly 23 miles along good, gravel based roads. Most are descendants of horses long ago turned out by the regions ranchers and reflect on the area's geography and history. This is an amazing sight to see.

We scheduled a tour with Rich and Dottie in September 2013. I adopted a horse many years ago and wanted to see where she came from. So, it was a dream come true for me. Rich and Dottie gave us much more than we paid for. We loved the old army vehicle they took us out in. We truly went off road, and found the horses in their space. Rich is a true westerner, and we were very interested in his knowledge of the environment, the history of the area, we left much better educated about the Wild Horse Act, the mining in the area, the environmental issues, and the geographical issues of the west. We went off the beaten path. We were surprised and delighted to be able to just sit and watch the herd as long as we wanted to, we did not feel rushed. We actually saw two stallions fighting over the herd. We got it on video. Astonishing that we could be so close and actually see how they live day to day in the wild. Don't miss this tour, it is one of the highlights of our three week trip west.

I recently spent a Sunday morning with Rich and Dottie fulfilling a longtime dream to see Wild Horses in Wyoming and it is something I will cherish and talk about for a long time! The off-the-beaten-path route provided more views of horses and other wildlife. This is a highly recommended activity with a lot of photo opps. The army vehicle adds so much to the whole experience and the education is better than any Wikipedia entry about the area. Bring a zoom lens, sunscreen for your arms being out the window and be prepared with water, snacks and sturdy shoes for a quick hike. Don't Miss This!

My wife and I recently spent a full morning with Rich on the wild horse tour. Rich knows the country, the wildlife, and how to find it. He gave us much more than we paid for. He works hard to entertain and educate his guests, and shows a true love for his unique geography. He is a mountain man extraordinaire! Anybody who has an opportunity to take this tour should do so.Dan and Kris H.

Rich is an excellent guide. He is extremely knowledgable about the environment, history and individual characteristics of the horses. My husband and I went with my 72 year old mother and 2 teenage kids and everyone loved it. The army vehicle is extremely fun. I would highly recommend this to any age group. Everyone in our group agreed it was one of the highlights of our vacation.

This was a wonderful way to spend the morning. The guide was fun and well informed. He knew how to find the horses and took us right up close. The highlight of our trip. The army vehicle we rode out in made this a great adventure. I Highly recommend this tour to anyone.

This was a wonderful adventure! We saw countless beautiful wild horses! Rich was an excellent guide and knew exactly where the horses would be. This was a wonderful experience. Afterwards, my brother in law said it ranked in the top 10 experiences of his life... We all agreed!

We had every intention of doing this but the drought and high temperatures interfered. We communicated with the owner and he could not have been nicer or more honest with us about the fact that we might not enjoy the tour due to the weather conditions. I would trust him and will be back through here to take his tour. He was even willing to take us out at 6 AM to make it cooler. It was my idea and he was accomodating.

I'm so glad the contributors to Tripadvisor listed this tour. It was one of the highlights of my vacation.Rich Nobles knows the back country. He takes delight in sharing his appreciation for the Wyoming wilderness and wildlife.Over the course of four hours, Rich took me over the roughest roads in the wilderness. We saw wild horses. elk, and antelope. We followed the trail to their watering hole. All the which, Rich is providing an ongoing commentary about the horses, their behavior, and generally anything that comes to his mind. You won't be bored. But it is a rattling ride. This is like a vacation within a vacation. So I glad I went.

We were so excited to see wild horses - and even though our timing (late in the day) meant we only saw a few, the trip was STILL a great adventure! Rich, the owner, was the best part - a real Wyoming character that shared his views and ideas, giving us great insight into his lifestyle and reality.

We booked an "eco-safari" with Green River Wild Horse Tours, and took our 6 1/2 year old grandson on this off-road trip in a crazy Austrian army vehicle, into the wild horse lands of south western Wyoming. The owner and his wife spotted herds of wild horses, herds of elk and even antelopes that tried to outrun our vehicle. It was a fast-paced trip, and well worth a stop in Green River, Wyoming, just off I-80. We recommend this half-day trip to any and all. It's safe, it's ecological, and it's reasonably priced. This is not horse-back riding!!! No one rides these wild horses.
