Unique sight of the famous Mormon Row historical homestead, the very early settlement of Jackson Hole. It was easy to get to as part of the 42 mile loop drive. Another expansive view point of the valley and Tetons.

If you love photographing historic barns with dramatic scenery, this is the place for you. I probably spent an hour taking pictures of the historic buildings with the majestic Tetons in the background. Along the road in this area you see most of the bison in Grand Teton (the others seem to be near Moran Junction on US 191). You'll also see antelope at times. Pictures in this area usually have the barns or farmhouses in the foreground with the Tetons in the distance. Take the road around the east side of the area and you'll come to the junction with Gros Ventre Road. Just up the road on the right is a pond fed with hot springs (swimming is allowed). Farther up the road is the view of the Gros Ventre Slide. Rocks from hilllside opposite the river came down and traveled up the hill behind where you're standing. Traveling back toward Antelope Flat Road from the slide overlook you'll see a pullout where you can get a great sunset picture of the Tetons.

I didn't have a great weather day to take pictures (which is the whole reason to come here), but it was still beautiful imagery. If you're not excited to get photos, it may be underwhelming. Mormon Row represents a community of homesteaders that settled in the 1890s. There are a few structures still standing with the Grand Tetons as a stunning backdrop. There is an informational sign with some background info.If you are coming from the south (Jackson), take a right at the Gros Ventre Junction and then make a left onto Mormon Row, which is a dirt road. If you're approaching Moose Junction from the south, travel just a little farther north and make a right onto Antelope Flats Road, then make a right onto Mormon Row.If you're approaching Moose Junction from the north on Teton Park Road, make a left onto 191 at Moose Junction, make a right onto Antelope Flats Road, then make a right onto Mormon Row.If you're approaching Moose Junction from the north on 191, make a left onto Antelope Flats Road (before Moose Junction), then make a right onto Mormon Row.FYI, Antelope Flats Road and Mormon Row roads are closed during the winter.

If you love old BARNS and me having an affection for barns and being from Central Illinois with lots of barns to choose from in many shapes and sizes, this was a must see for me!!! Beautiful setting and I, too was determined to find these iconic barns to photograph for myself. I took my time, researched as much as I could in preparation and asked the locals for clear directions and ventured out at 6:30 a.m. (this was suggested amongst all the other trip advisor reviews to get a good spot and to be respectful of other photographers) I found this to be ludicrous!! I managed to get up early, grab a hot chocolate and drive the 45 mph speed for "night" to get there and there was a real "crowd" of ME!! No one is up that early to wait until the sun came up to capture a picture in the light and I actually enjoyed it. I was there alone in the quiet until the sun came up so that it was light enough to take a picture and I walked out to the barn to get my picture. I actually forgot about this being an open field for nature and I had just finished snapping my last "selfie" when I caught something moving in my peripheral and realized it was a large elk running towards my direction. A good snowfall, 50 degree temperatures and trying to run in them do not mix...but I booked it to my truck seeing just how quickly ELK can move!! :) Yes, that's a visual! Memory of a lifetime and am happy I got up with the sun to achieve it. Although I was trying to think of everything, I didn't count on cloud cover. As you can see in the pictures below, the sun came up for a brief moment, but there was cloud cover that didn't allow for the sun to shine on the Teton's as I was hopeful to capture! Remember the wildlife that may be present and think about the weather. Wear suitable attire. I hope everyone experiences the same feeling I had that morning! Minus Elk or Buffalo or anything else nature has in store! There is a deposit at the entrance of John Moulton's barn for donations...hope you don't forget to bring a $ bill or two to help "keep" the place.

Nice place to take pictures of "America's most photographed barn".Light will have to be right.Not much else to do but to look at the barn with the Tetons in the background :-)

As a professional photographer, of course I had to check out Mormon Row during my trip to Jackson. It was delightful, photographer or not! It isn't like a particularly entertaining attraction. What I mean by that is my boyfriend who came stood there, looked at the barn for about 3 minutes, then said great, let's go hahaha. I'm sure my dad would do the same. My mom and I - we could stay for an hour taking photos as the light and clouds move. You get my point. The boyfriend did actually say it was very cool and he was glad we went so don't get the wrong idea - it is historically neat and very pretty, definitely check it out. When you're driving out there, you'll see the main barn to the left with some cars probably parked there and what not, then there is a dirt road to the right with nobody. We had time to kill and ventured down that dirt road and that was actually my favorite part. There are tons of old and abandoned barns down there, and also some active barns and homes that appeared to be in use. If you have a few extra minutes I recommend checking that out too.

I was determined to get my barn photo of the Tetons - like so many others do. It really is a beautiful setting and fairly easy to get a good shot. My hubby humored me by tracking down the "right" barn because he didn't remember seeing the iconic pictures of this setting that I showed him before the trip but when we arrived he immediately remembered the setting - just like the photos you see. Lighting is critical and as others have mentioned - morning is better as you have the sun to your back. Lovely location.

Little slice of yesteryear. Very authentic. One is free to walk around and explore. Great photo opportunities too.

The Mormon Row barns are best photographed at sunrise. If you arrive at sunrise be ready to share the space with numerous photographers. Just be sure to respect them and not get in the way of their shot. The barns are beautifully intact and the Tetons in the background are absolutely stunning. Makes for some wonderful photos.

Enjoyed framing the barns against the Tetons including the fall foliage. Liked getting shots of the leaves falling. Can't take a bad photo here!

It's hard to explain the sitting and atmosphere of this unique spot. We're so happy we didn't miss it. Bring you camera and get a taste of pioneer America without commercialism.

The photo opportunity of Mormon Row is worth the detour. Take Antelope Flats road off the highway to reach it. Do not take the Gros Ventre road because it is a rough, dirt road.

Posing with the Grand Tetons in the background are the two Moulton barns along the Antelope Flats road. The little history I know about the area tells me that there was a small Mormon settlement here in the early 1900’s. Part of the settlement included the Moulton family who constructed the barns on adjacent homesteads. Most of the buildings and plots were sold and became part of Grand Teton National Park.According to an article in Wyoming’s Star Tribune, there is a one-acre plot that is still owned by the Moulton family. Here the family gathers once each year to reminisce and plan for fund-raising for needed repairs to the barns. We should all be grateful for the continued efforts to keep this area restored and provide an almost perfect composition for photographers to capture the iconic image of the Moulton barns.

morning is definitely the best time for a visit here, before the sun gets too harsh! Don't just do the iconic barn... there's a barn I liked even better on the opposite end of the row that many folks skip.
