Driving to Faywood you wonder where in the heck are there hot springs out here???!!! Then off of 180, a short drive later, we check in at shack with previous appt. we settle into one room cabin, limited kitchen, but outdoor grill. Yep, I brought my stove, bought some wood, and steaks... then to the private soaking pools, very rustic, clean, and quiet. I love this place, they are upgrading area but bring your own food and beverage, 30 mile drive for eateries. Night sky is super clear, air is fresh, can get dusty if windy.

I heard about Faywood Hot Springs from a friend and was excited that it was so close to Silver City NM where we were spending Thanksgiving. I was told to expect something out of the 1960s, and that was a pretty good description. This is not a luxurious spa, but a wonderful, rustic place to unwind for an hour. We chose a private pools, although there were public pools/clothing optional as well. We spent a wonderful hour relaxing and staring up at the big desert sky. I would go back if we were in the area again.

After visiting the City of Rocks we visited the hot springs. They are set on a small hill side with three pools in the clothing and non clothing areas. The highest one was the hottest. There are campsites and cabins as well as private hot pools to hire. It costs $12.50 each. Do not expect luxury. The setting in the desert is magical and only wished we could have soaked in them at night under the stars.

An oasis in the middle of a beautiful part of southern New Mexico. The pools were clean and relaxing. Loved the metal sculptures and artistic touches and the new owner was really friendly and down to earth. I thought this place couldn't have been any better after visiting in 1997 but found paradise again. The rustic campsites are cozy and loved the resident cats that come visit in the morning. Highly worth the detour off the main drag.

We visited Faywood Hotsprings this past weekend (mid September ’14) and had a wonderful experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful (We got our RV stuck in the mud and within 10 mintues the staff had pulled us out with the backhoe). We stayed in the clothing optional camp ground and had it all to ourselves, although we shared the hottubs with some day visitors.The Hotsprings were peaceful, private, and rustic; We enjoyed watching the wildlife: lizards, roadrunners and such. Although it was not crowded at all, most of the time we had the pools to ourselves, the people that we did meet and chatted with were very friendly and conversational.A great place to stay if you want to relax for a while, or for a weekend adventure while exploring the surrounding areas (Silver city is full of shops and history is a half hour by car to the north on Route 180).Although there is no food service at this time (they do have soft drinks for sale), a restaurant in the new visitor center is planned within the next 6 months.Because the Hotsprings is so rustic, plan on bringing good walking shoes; terrain is rough as one travels the short distance between pools, restrooms and showers.

We came for a few hours on a day pass because we live half an hour away. It was so relaxing it would have been nice to spend the night. We came in August and it was very quiet. We were the only ones in the clothing required public pools although other guests were arriving as we were leaving. We plan to come again in the evening and enjoy the stars. The owner told us they are busier in the cooler months. The only problem with coming in August was flying insects including biting flies. Bring bug spray. Also bring food and drinks.The place is rustic. If you're looking for a luxury resort with a spa try Ein Gedi in Israel.

I found Faywood Hot Springs on the web and had been wanting to visit for quite some time. August 2014, I needed to find someplace to "get away from it all" and relax so I chose to camp at the Springs. I picked a c/o primitive camp site and was the only person in that section for 2 days; BTW sunsets were BEAUTIFUL. The spot was primitive with an outhouse close by. Real toilets are available if I need it and showers available, too. The staff and "regulars" were very polite and soaking in the tubs (yes there are several) was very relaxing. Do bring your own food, water, booze, insect repellent, etc. They do sell sodas, ice and firewood. Mosquitos were not a problem however I used the repellent for my tent entrance, there are ants. I will be back. For a more scenic drive (if coming from the ABQ area) use Hwy 152 thru Hillsboro. It's shorter with lots of slower speed limits and windy curves but very scenic. If you are in a hurry use the road from Hatch to Deming. Quicker but less scenic. Hope my info helps. Any questions zap me a message

I planned this as a day trip since I was in New Mexico on business and wasn't really equipped for a camping trip. I arrived early, spent all day soaking in various pools, met some very friendly folks, and left very relaxed just before closing time. You need to make sure you bring food and drinks with you (at least until they get the visitor's center up and running), because it is a half hour's drive into town if you want to get something to eat or drink (each way). The pools have a constant flow of water through them, and are obviously cleaned regularly. I was worried that the clothing optional side would get creepy, but everyone was so friendly and welcoming that it felt perfectly natural being there. I look forward to going back, and am going to plan a stay in one of the cabins next time.

My wife and I visited Faywood Hotsprings on the July 4th weekend. We decided to reserve a tent site that we had scoped out the previous visit. The weather was perfect and it was not crowded at all, considering it was a holiday. We relaxed in both clothing optional area pools. The pools were very clean but the water was a bit too hot in the pool that is kept the hottest, so we spent most of our time in the next cooler pool. We were impressed with how clean the restroom and shower areas were. There are also a few actual outhouses, and those too were surprisingly clean and odorless. The great thing we found is that they have added an actual clothing optional camping area with about 12 (maybe more) campsites. If we would have known, we would have definitely reserved a spot there. This area is very open and clean, with gravel roads and level campsites. The feeling here is very liberating. We met and with quite a few people and really enjoyed the conversation. All were very friendly. The terrain is a bit rocky so consider that when deciding on footwear. Take plenty of water.

Each cabin has a small refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, large sink along with a nice set of dishes, utensils, serving bowls, etc. There is a small dining table with two chairs inside and another set of chairs in the screened in porch as well as a picnic table with a grill if you wish to cook outside. Refrigerated air is a nice touch when needed. The cabins are cozy and inviting and provide an easy way to prepare your own food and beverage.Be prepared to explore and enjoy 15 soaking pools, all with a variety of temperatures and arrangements; offering public, private, clothing required, clothing optional, family friendly and groups, and best of all, they are clean and attractive. If you are an overnight guest you have pool privileges 24/7. We got up before dawn and walked in the cool morning air to a favorite pool where we warmed our bodies and watched the sunrise as the birds were singing in the background. That evening, we chose a different pool and soaked in peaceful solitude as the sun dipped below the horizon.The resort provides a variety of options; if you want to come for the day you can get a day pass, you can rent a private pool or use a public pool, you can spend the night in a quiet cabin or drive up in your RV and hook up to electric and water, and yes, you can even camp in your tent. The current owners are working to open a visitor’s center and provide food service in the future, so for the time being, be prepared to bring your own food if you stay the night.The accommodations are just lovely and the price is far less than you would imagine. The mineral content of the waters is decidedly therapeutic; you will find yourself relaxed and getting to that slow pace that you perhaps never knew you had in you. In the world of corporate business models, of the high-end hotels with their resort fees and parking fees and tipping someone every time you turn around, it is a refreshing escape to reacquaint one’s self with REAL nature in a REAL setting. If you find yourself within a day’s drive or even if you do not, please consider paying a visit. The owners are genuinely nice people who want you to have a wonderful experience; you will be treated to a time you will not soon forget.

My first time hereMy friends have been coming for years. Everyone I met was super nice and the owners are awesome too. Nice and quiet, pools are clean, and I never want to leave!! What a gem of a place I feel privileged I got to experience this place and give it 5 stars?!?

This was the first time in many, many years that I visited. Years ago the facilities were run down and quite frankly, a little scary. However, the current owners have done a great job in renovating the property and making it inviting for tourists. There is now a nice check in booth at the entrance where you are greeted by staff. You are presented with options of a day pass, public soaking, private soaking (some of which is clothing optional), overnight camping and rv sites or cabin rental. All pools are natural hot spring mineral pools (fueled by the ancient volcanoes in the area). They also have supplies for your day such as drinks, towels, suntan lotion, etc. We chose a day pass to the public pools. There are three public pools which vary by temperature. Each of the pools are small, with a maximum capacity of 15 people. Again, we did not see the private pools. The desert landscaping around the pools is very nicely done. We had the three pools to ourselves until joined by a small friendly family. It was easy to see that a lot of work has gone into the renovation. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that there is still work to be done on the visitors center, changing rooms and bathrooms. The camping/rv sites also need more renovations. All in all it was a very nice day especially after hiking and camping in near by City of Rocks State Park. We will definitely go back.

Although we only stayed overnight, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We stayed in one of their cabins and it was quite comfortable with a little screened-in porch where we could sit, read and visit. It's very quiet. Guests don't speak above a whisper. The place was nearly sold out the night we were there and we didn't see or hear practically anyone. Don't be put off by the "clothing optional" aspect. There's nothing creepy about Faywood. If you want to soak in the buff, it's a private thing. As a matter of fact we didn't have to witness anyone's naked backside. There are several private soaking options with varying degrees of heat. If you're looking for a luxury spa, keep driving. Faywood Hot Springs is rustic which is one of it's most charming features. The new owners are busy upgrading the place and deserve your support. We'll be back, but we'll schedule more than just an overnight.

e visited Faywood for the first time since it's reopened. Though the facilities are not all in operation, the pools were fabulous -- hot spring water flowing through, and set on desert hillsides, enchanting and exhilarating. We used the clothing optional section and had a great to hour soak -- all day rate was reasonable. Picnic in desert, swim and enjoy hot spring water in the middle of a lovely natural setting. What could be nicer!

A pleasant surprise as we found Faywood on Christmas Day. We were tent camping; tentsites are small but pleasant and a close walk to all the facilities. Great clubhouse allowed afforded us the opportunity to read after dark on a cold night - and also a warm place to have breakfast. There are public and private pools, both clothing optional and clothing required (public pools) and we were able to soak in pools reserved for overnight guests. Really delightful place and we would definitely return again. Hope the owners can make a go of it as they have already done a lot of work to make this place special.
