Such beautiful views!!! From the vineyard out front and along side the winery to the back veranda/patio, this was a gorgeous setting. The downside was that the wines were just okay. About 3 of the 5 wines I tried tasted very similar to one another and the pours were very small. The inside was very cute with a nice bar behind the counter but it was much more business-like in interactions than what I was hoping for being a small winery. I would recommend going to check out the views out back but the wines were just alright in my opinion.

Amazing scenery - perfect way to relax and enjoy an evening and a glass of vine!Wine selection was smaller than I prefer, but I enjoyed a glass out on the back patio with live music and a fantastic view of the mountains!

rio grande winery is a wonderful venue for many activities. gordon steel will host weddings, reunions, or about any kind of gathering you might imagine. the covered gallery in back has a beautiful view of the organ mountains, and live music is provided a couple of weekends out of the month. gordon has a life-long interest in wine making, inherited from his father, and studied the art in europe. it is very evident in his product. my wife and I are fortunate to live in the area, so we're able to go any time. for someone visiting las cruces and mesilla for a weekend, this is a "must see", especially if you enjoy a glass of wine. if you're into history, the walls of the tasting room are lined with photos of early day wine making in the mesilla valley, as well as other old photos of the area. it's a beautiful location, excellent product, and genial host.

Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in the area... their wines are delicious and that back porch view of the Organ Mountains is phenomenal! Having the owner walk us through the tastings was a real treat as well (this guy is hilarious, and very knowledgeable). After a three hour visit, my wife and I left with a mixed case of our favorites: Queue Tendre (spicy sweet white), dry Gewurztraminer (perfectly balanced), Peach Sangria, Sangiovese, Grenache, and several others.Plan your trip accordingly, as the winery only has light fare on hand and it's about a 20 minute drive from the restaurants of Old Mesilla (mostly through the pecan groves). All told, this was the highlight of my wife and I's anniversary trip to Las Cruces. Will certainly visit again.

We visited on a weekend and enjoyed a relaxed, friendly and informative wine tasting with the owner. Great location, very nice space and the wine is good. The owner has a lot of knowledge to share about wine in a fun atmosphere. We'll definitely be coming back.

This is the 2nd time we have made a trip to Las Cruces for our anniversary. Rio Grande Winery has been our favorite winery since we visited the first time. The winemaker has some authentic and tasty wines that we enjoy. The server was exceptional and we enjoyed a great time with Caitlin. They have a very nice patio around a fountain where a glass of wine can be enjoyed. Just like the last time we were here, we enjoyed our time very much and walked out with a case of wine.

Excellent establishment. A true winemaker. He has some sweet selections for the masses too. The vineyards gorgeous. The wines are superb!

This was one of our last tastings of the day and well worth the wait. The owner took the time to educate us on the vineyard and his wine. He was quite knowledgeable and entertaining. Only problem is he doesn't ship to Louisiana. His wine is excellent as well. I'd stop again just to visit with the owner and learn some more, and of course, drink his wine.

The facilities are clean and top notch, the owner will take good care of you full of good conversation, the wine is Fab especially the Cab and Sangiovese and well, you can't beat the back porch for the best view!

In March, we drove from El Paso to Mesilla, and decided to stop and do the wine testing at the Rio-Grande Winery. My wife and I had a great time there. Conversation with an owner was a blast. Great wines, good selection. Very clean facility. Perfect.

Although only open on weekends the wines are very good at a very good price and staff was terrific.

Having moved to El Paso, TX, trying to explore Day Trip options...and this is wonderful! Enjoy mid morning in Old Mesilla, NM, then down the road is this winery. The owner is laid-back and very knowledgeable. Fun Fact, did you know New Mexico had wineries 140 years BEFORE California? During the wine tasing learned a lot, and the wines are good quality (I was surprised). If you're looking for food, this isn't the place. They have cheese and sausage, but that's it. Focus on the wine, then head back to Old Mesilla for food.I will be back!

We had spent the early afternoon in the Mesilla village and had made our way down Hwy 28, in search of Pecan farms. But when we stumble upon a vineyard, we try to always go in for a tasting. Rio Grande is situated at the base of the mountains and the view from the tasting room really is spectacular. The price of a tasting is, in my opinion, very reasonable and the grapes are all locally grown. It is a true family affair. We brought 3 bottles home with us, but should have brought more as they did not last very long. If you are in the Mesilla village and enjoy wine, make sure to venture down the hwy just a bit. The staff is very friendly and the wine is simply amazing!
