We were out and about a bit early for another museum in town an needed to pass an hour or so and we stumbled upon this gem of a community museum. There is just so much local history in this museum. Massive amounts of native american pottery sherds from the area from long ago that could use some updated displays and there was so much in the yard and inside the buildings - wagons, fire engines, railroad caboose, grinding stones, mill stones, farm equipment. The ladies were incredible nice and helpful. I think the museum should sell off or cull a few items to upgrade some of the displays. In some places it looks like a hoarders delight of a lifetime of memories. I liked it but others may find it a bit unorganized and eclectic but I think there is something there that everyone will find interesting.

Loved this place!! Full of stuff; all old and relating to the history of the town. I will take you at least two hours to see everything. Friendly staff.

Wow, was this museum full of stuff! Two main floors of the building, the basement, outbuilding, and large items around the lot. The rest rooms were clean and modern, and the lady working the front counter was very friendly. But much of the 'stuff' wasn't well organized or presented, limiting the educational potential.

Very informative and interesting. I was surprised of the volume of artifacts and info inside! Highly recommend you include this if your passing through!

If you like history you will love this museum. The lady at the entrance was nice, friendly and knowledgeable. My 12 year old son loved looking at all the artifacts and walking through the caboose outside. I especially liked the old Boy Scout uniform and Boy Scout life guard uniform. One of my son's is a BSA certified life guard and very glad he doesn't have to wear the "swim suit" displayed in the museum.

Three floors full of historical items from Tucumcari's past. They have more stuff than they can display - they could use some help.

Wow! This is an amazing museum! It has three levels that are packed full of rich history of the local area! The staff is very knowledgeable and super friendly. There are other buildings that contain even more pieces of history. I will definitely go back! Too much to see in one trip! Awesome! Don't miss this great opportunity to visit history of Tucumcari and local area.

Each room is packed with items that tell the story of Tucumcari through individual items. From clothing and personal items, to prehistoric bones, wagons, airplanes, and farming implements. So many things, yet quite nicely organized. I'd like to go back.

We stopped in based on reviews from trip advisor and locals and I am glad we did. The museum is in an old school house and it is chock full of all kinds of historical artifacts. I was shocked at how much was packed into this building. My wife and I had a good time looking at the artifacts and items. The only complaint I have is that there is to much stuff stuffed into loosely defined exhibits. It makes it difficult to focus on any one thing. Worth a stop if you are in the area.

This was a great stop on the long boring trip from Albuquerque and Amarillo. They have so much random and different items in this museum. I recommend stopping in.

We spent an hour or so in the museum and really enjoyed it. Many people have donated old photos, scrapbooks, journals, letters, uniforms, etc. so you can really get an idea of how life was in Tucumcari. The museum is housed in an old schoolhouse which is pretty interesting in itself.

Just off Route 40, it's super convenient to stop. They have everything imaginable in there! An old hospital admissions ledger book from the early 1940s caught our eye and we looked at it forever!
