I've already been here 3 times because I love this place so much. The wolves, foxes, and bobcats are beautiful, I can go for the rest of my life. As a sponsor of 3 wolves and a fox, Keysha, Kayla, Orion, and Sierra, you can tell I love this place. It's a great place for families but I'm not sure about small children, they get restless during the tour and distress the animals. I have some pictures of the wolves and one is my Facebook profile picture. A Must See if you are in the Poconos.

Becky and Jim the "parents" at Lakota dedicated their live's to this place. There are 4 large may acre pens for the packs to live like wolves with family. They are all pure wolves born in captivity and they raise them as pups and give them a life of safety from humans. They also have bobcats and foxes some are over 20 years. You have tour times twice a day on weekends for educational and enjoyment. Photographers can pays fair fee and have unobstructed by fences photos. worth every penny!They have sponsor programs for choice of individual wolf or general preserve. You get a certificate, picture, tshirt, and pass for visit. They care for them in all the inclement weather sometimes staying on the mountain to ensure the wolves' safety from trees, fences and to make sure they stay safe in there pens. These people are the real deal of true animal lovers who give their souls to their wild kids.

We recently visited the preserve with our two children, ages 9 and 7. We had a very large group tour -- close to 40 or 50 -- and I found it challenging to catch everything Jim said about the wolves. He's a wikipedia on wolves, which is great, but he talks too fast and his voice failed to carry to the back of our group. He also moved too fast when interacting with the wolves -- by the time I realized he was feeding the wolves in one pen, he was already done and moving on to the next pen. And I was paying attention! He didn't give people enough time to reposition themselves to see what was happening. I also wished he spent a few minutes talking about the history of the preserve - when was it established? why? why call it Lakota? I left with these questions unanswered. Some reviewers said the bobcat and fox presentations were too long; we actually found them to be great. Unlike the wolf area, there was ample space to see the animals and hear Becky without having to stand behind two, three or four people. She kept everyone engaged with her stories and knowledge.

This is a very unique experience. The perserve is owned and operated by Jim and Becky who passion for these beautiful creatures is evident. Thier presentation into the lives and habits fo the wolves is extremely interesting. You gain a new appreciation for these wild and beautiful animals. As the other reviewers have said, when they get them to howl it is amazing. It is so awesome to experience their pack behavior and how Jim and Becky are part of that family. It is a perfect photo opportunity and the time spent , nearly 90minutes, gives you ample time to get pictures and ask questions that they gladly answer--just like it was the first time anyone has asked the questions. This expereience is well worth the admission fee is is nominal for what you get in return.

We all had a fantastic time at Lakota Wolf Preserve during our trip there in January 2015. The two tour guides (who were also the owners/operators of the preserve) were extremely friendly and full of knowledge about the wolves, bobcats, and foxes on the preserve. The tour through the preserve was well worth the $15 (it was almost an 1 1/2 long!) and it was very educational and interesting - a great way to spend the afternoon!

This is a wonderful opportunity to see wolves, bobcats and foxes up close and personal. Although you cannot go into the pens with the wolves (though you might want to!), Jim and Becky give educational talks filled with experience, facts and humor. It is an incredible hour and a half that goes by quickly. When the wolves howl, it's nature at its best! One thing I would recommend is to dress for the weather. It was cold today and I was glad I wore my wool socks! Also, it might be a little long for younger children but those 8 and up will love it as much as the adults. Definitely a place for everyone to enjoy and learn!

What an amazing place. You are walking down a path; one of the owners starts to call out their names and suddenly 16 wolves are howling all at once and you are in the middle of it. We learned so much and really, when do you ever get a chance to be 10 feet away from a wolf? Don't forget to visit the bobcats and foxes.

Whether you are a wolf enthusiast or a wildlife photographer, you will definitely enjoy this experience. The owners truly ensure that you get to learn a lot about their wolf packs and that you get a nice, up close view of their wildlife. Beautiful location, lovely experience.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Lakota Wolf Preserve on a photography tour. Jim Stein and Becky Mace own and operate this largest wolf preserve in the Northeast. In addition to Timber, Arctic and British Columbia wolves, they also have foxes and bobcats to view and photograph. Jim Stein's own excellent wolf photos were a real inspiration. A bonus for me was when Becky got the wolves to howl for us. With the cold temps you could actually "see" the howls on wolves' breath as well as hear them. I only regret that I didn't get to hear one of Jim and Becky's "Wolf Watch" presentations to learn about the social structure of wolf packs, their eating habits, their interaction with humans and so forth.

The wolves are plentiful and come close enough to see. As mentioned in countless other reviews, Jim and Becky are devoted stewards who are the icing on the cake. We will definitely be back, hopefully to camp and hear the wolves howl overnight.

If you are interested in wildlife conservation and preservation this is the place to go - for all ages. The preserve is run by a dedicated and devoted couple who truly care about these animals. In addition to viewing and learning about the wolves that live on the premises, there is also a pair of bobcats and a pair of foxes that make their home there. The entire tour is approximately 90 minutes and is informative and well worth the small fee. Knowing these people devote most of their lives to keeping these animals safe and healthy makes the experience even better.

The Lakota Wolf Preserve is in a campground. The campground gets part of the admission fee since the curators do not own the land. There are busses to transport you back to the preserve, or you can walk. There are 4 large fenced areas, that you can only see part of, which enclose the wolves. The wolves come in because they know they will get fed. The talk about the wolves was fascinating and there was a long Q&A session. It's probably too long for small kids. At the end, the wife calls the wolves and they howl. So eerie.After learning about the wolves, you are ushered to another area where there are bobcats and foxes. An informative talk is given about them. It's all very interesting. The animals are well cared for and loved. You can tell by how the owners talk and handle the animals that they care for and respect them. But you also realize these animals are not house pets. They are wild animals not meant to live in houses.It was really a great tour. Well worth the money.There is a portapot if you need it.

For years, my family and I had heard about Lakota Wolf Preserve so we decided to venture up to check it out. What a delight! The couple who run the preserve are passionate about what they do. The talk was informative and there are many opportunities to ask questions and take pictures. They also have an excellent session on bobcats and foxes. It was a marvelous way to spend an afternoon.I echo the sentiments of other reviewers. The talks were great and captivated my teenager but younger children will become restless.
