Lovely, humbling. I'm delighted we found time to decompress and visit this peaceful place. I remembered going here when in middle school during a ski holiday. Now that I'm an adult I can really appreciate what these wonderful tributes mean to Americans in this time when somehow Christianity is practically a dirty word. God bless America.

A must go visit if you are in the Upper Valley area of NH around Christmas. Shrine is a Christmas tradition for many. The lights are beautiful -- the outlined angels, poinsettias, bells, candles and stars -- up on the hillside overlooking Mascoma Lake are gorgeous. Lots of loving work goes into this display each year. Cold most nights but very spiritual feeling and a nice way to get away from the commercialism of the season. For many it is " the reason for the season." Chapel is open, weekend Mass is offered, often small concerts for the public to attend. Small concession center and a lovely gift shop for all sorts of religious items. Additional building caters to the children who can write Jesus birthday cards inside and post them on the walls. Music fills the parking lot and attendance is always strong. Years ago my grandfather and great uncle were caretakers for the seminary which is still there on the grounds and used as a conference center. Need to reconnect with what the season means, a trip here is worthwhile. LaSalette Shrine also has another location in Attleboro, MA.

Wonderful Christmas Mass is held there, light a candle for a loved one, The lights of La Salette are beautiful and you can walk the rosiery stations.

On a large sloping hill there is total illumination with so many beautiful lights. This is where I feel the real meaning of Christmas. Families laughing, drinking a hot chocolate in a peaceful and safe setting. A must see and where a family tradition should continue. There is no where else I can think of getting the Christmas spirit.
