We went just before dusk, the paddle was calm and peaceful. Saw some birds and a river otter. Nice relaxing way to end the day.

I spent a weekend camping in Aug2011 with my sisters and my 10 year old (Girls Camping Trip) in Errol, NH, and kayaking in the Magalloway River was one of our outings. My sisters rented kayaks at LL Cote, a local store and outfitter in Errol. I brought my own equipment. We parked across the street from the Umbagog NWR headquarters, and put in at the canoe launch there.Very easy to launch there. We had a very nice paddle, but went in the middle of the day when it was hotter and the sun was glaring. We didnt see any moose, but we enjoyed watching a pair of Kingfishers dive in the rive for fish, and many beautiful dragonflies. Next time, I would like to go earlier in the morning when the temps are cooler and the wildlife more active. Can't wait to explore more in 2012.

There can be few better ways to wile away an hour or two than canoeing along this beautifully unspoilt waterway. A shining gem in a generally ruined world.
