The Central Square is an area filled with unique shops and good restaurants. There is a gazebo in the middle as well as a lovely old church. It is perfect for strolling and window shopping. There is a great New England feeling here.

Stroll, Sit, Shop or Dine in and around the beautiful Central Square area and the lovely Bandstand! Surrounding the park will be a variety of shops and restaurants to enhance your walking experience, and a historic church to add to the beauty. In the Summer, enjoy dining outdoors and people-watching in the heart of downtown and this lovely spot!

One of the most charming squares I have seen. Many New England towns have squares but this one was full of charm and life. Than Band stand was in use and it just gave the town a welcoming atmosphere.

I have lived in Keene, NH for the past two or three years. Keene is a great place to visit and Main Street/Central Square is the perfect place to start! Grab lunch at any of the wonderful restaurants, drink a beer at one of the bars, and shop around to find unique New England goods. Shopping around town really helps the local economy since there are so many "mom and pop" type shops. Overall, Keene is the epitome of a small New England town!

Keene is a really nice town.My only issues with Keene are the Brownshirt activist who really make it hard on the rest of us and interfere with our enjoyment of simply walking down Main st or go to Central Square. The parking meters and activist tend to keep us out of city center. If not for the overreach of the police and the rude and obnoxious behavior of the activist we would even want to live in Keene!Keene offers many things that towns of similar size do not have to offer. The restaurants, bars, theater and nice little stores along Maine street are fantastic! Most of the time one will not see the police or the activist since they seem to work together so to speak. One will not be out unles the other is out.My wife and I like to stroll Main st and sit in Central Squre just as a way to relax and people watch even if we are not shopping or eating out. Window shopping is a nice relaxing thing to do on Maine st as well.I want to give five stars but due to the activist and police I can only give 3 or 4 stars.

We just spent a very enjoyable time exploring this small southern NH downtown. Beautiful historic white church at the head of the square, a small park in the center of town and many interesting shops and restaurants all around the square and along the main street. Clean and well maintained. Understand they have a large Pumpkin Festival every year that draws thousands of visitors. Plan on returning for that in October.

Well known as the background of a scene in "Jumanji," this wide main street is an American classic. Low-rise buildings housing restaurants, stores, businesses bracket the street and central boulevard. Ginko and other trees and plantings abound. As other reviewers have stated, many events are held here including the famous Guinness Book of World Records Pumpkin Festival. This college town has much to offer and is the heart of the Monadnock Region.

What can I say.....Geographically and figuratively, this is Keene's "pulse point".Concerts and weekly displays and peace demonstrations remind all who breathe that Keene is a vibrant New England community.

A picturesque little New England downtown with a central square and gazebo to match. Check out the free concerts in the summer, and the Christmas tree in the winter.

Great town to walk around! Many small shops and restaurants. At night it was quiet and romantic.....It was beautifully decorated for Christmas.

I go to Keene frequently and certainly enjoy the look and feel of the downtown area. Parking meters are a bit of an inconvenience as we aren't too used to them in NH. Great shops, coffee and food.
