The Hill House is a wonderful place to visit. The Historical Society works diligently to keep track of life in Hudson beginning when Hudson was called "Nottingham West" . I particularly love to visit during the Christmas season when the rooms are decorated by local florists.

My assessment of the Nashua Historic society is that it is somewhat Nashua oriented and somewhat historic in nature. it is intended as a commemorative for the spear & Abbot families and as such, not focused on Nashua History as it purports to be. Some of the dioramas and artifacts relate to Nashua but only obliquely. the staff is relatively uninformative and the whole place seems consumed with security to the point that you feel watched your entire visit. Nashua Public Library is a better resource for things historic in not only Nashua but the area. the Nashua Historic Society misses the mark on many levels.

While the club fittings are rather old and worn, the auditorium has plenty of seating and very good audio visual equipment for viewing operas on a Sunday afternoon. The restrooms are up to date and spotless and easily accessible. There are a few exhibitions of early Nashua history, but I think the main reason to visit would be the programs.

Every historical society has a tough task when presenting their material to outsiders. The passion of the curator is the key to success. NHS has many treasures and displays them well
