It is the most peaceful drive ever! I always enjoy every second of it, and stop every where to take picture or go for a nice hike!

Always a pleasure driving across the Kanc any season! Wonderful views of the mountains. My family and I take the drive every year.

During nearly any time of the year this road has multiple picture-taking opportunities. Photographers from amateur to professional...don't miss it!

I really loved the views of the snow topped trees and mountains! Can't wait to see them again in warmer weather for comparison!

If you enjoy scenic drives, put this one at the top of your autumn bucket-list. There is so much colour at this time of year, and in the spring, such verdant lovliness! But do not take this road in the winter! It is very winding, and not especially well-maintained, and, basically, is a short-cut to nowhere. In season appropriate, one can exit the vehicle for scenic photo-ops, as well as to explore a bit, maybe play in the falls and streams. But this is still a really gorgeous ride for those who can't get out. I make sure I do it every fall w/ some of my patients who may have a long season indoors ahead of them.

The best 3 days I have ever spent. October 2014. Breath-taking Views, and beautiful autumn colors. So much to do. Could easily spend 2 weeks and not see it all. Going back in July!

One of the most beautiful rides in New England. Traveling either way plan for an hour drive if you don't stop. But there are several great places to stop and you should. Coming from Lincoln stop at the East Branch Pemi stop. You can do a quick hike and take pictures of the river or follow one of the long trails that you should plan ahead for. Sabbaday falls is another stop. A rushing water fall that is similar to the gorge in Franconia state park it is about a mile walk round trip. For a 30 minute stop it is a must! There are several stops near the peak elevation of the highway that can get really congested with parking but the views are some of the best in the state, especially for people who live in the flat suburbs of New England. There is another popular stop near the Conway side we haven't been to yet but it is always crowded and you can walk along the river. If you really want to do this right grab a bag/picnic lunch from the many restaurants on either side and plan at least half a day: there are plenty of places to have a picnic lunch. There is no per say fee for the highway but many of the stops ask for a few bucks on an honor system that soley maintain the recreation areas so don't skimp on the fees.

The White Mountains certainly received their fair share of snow this year and the Kancamagus Highway was not left out. My wife and I drove over to Lincoln from North Conway and back the day after a snow storm on the 10th of Feb.We have driven the road several times but not right after a storm so we did not know what to expect.I would like to commend the workers who spent countless hours clearing the snow for safe passage. Our journey this time was a winter wonderland with snow piled higher that our vehicle. Unfortunately most of the stopping areas were closed off due to the snow. Where we could stop the views were great. We always look for moose to be wondering around looking for food but to date have only seen their eyes flashing back from our headlights. That was in it's self scary given the moose were on the side of the road of a downhill section. The fall is probably the best time of the year to visit. Hiking in the area presents the best opportunity to see some of the colorful scenery and to photograph some of the most beautify water falls.

I go there at least twice a year to rejuvenate my spirit. Without a doubt, this is one of my favorite places to be in the world. It doesn't matter what time of year it is (however in early summer be wary of black flies!), it's always spiritual and breathtaking for me. Be sure you have plenty of gas as there is no where to stop from one end to the other. While driving the hwy, take a cut through Bear Notch road (not open in winter) at dawn or dusk hoping to spot a moose. Enjoy the lovely walk to Sabbaday Falls. Have a picnic and swim in the Lower Falls on a hot summer day. Visit the Russell-Colbath House and walk the historical grounds. Such an interesting history. Stop at ALL the 'scenic vistas' along the Kanca. The close surrounding areas are equally as breathtaking. Nearby visit Crawford Notch, learn the history of The Wiley House, relax and take in the mountain vista by the small lake across the street. There is a lovely rest area there with handcrafted items, bathrooms, and food. Visit Clarks Trading post and watch the black bear show while also enjoying many activities within, all for one reasonable price. And don't forget to take a look at the Mount Washington Hotel...imagine the history. I could go on and on. There are so many wonderful restaurants, activites, and worthwhile places to stay I barely touched on the wonders the area holds.

It was fun and quite long taking this highway to get to our other destination....we took a few pics...stopped a couple of times to check out the surrounding scenery.

Another recommendation from our hotel and we certainly saw the true colours we had heard about that is seen by visiting the New England area in the fall. We had witnessed the changing colours of the leaves on the trees as we started to travel down from Canada, but just by driving this Kancamagus Highway we experienced so much more and was able to stop to take photos as they provide places to pull off safely so you can go into the woods and see the river and the many rocks in the river, some you can stand on to have a photo taken with the river behind you.We are so glad we heard about this highway and also visited when we did as those colours are truly magical?Thank you for reading this John & Sue Webb Eastbourne UK

We travelled the highway during our holiday to see the fall foliage. Our timing was perfect as the colours were magical. A meandering drive with another magnificent scene around each bend.
