It is always fun to go through these old homes of the rich and famous! This one is beautifully maintained, and each room made me think, "oooh, I could live here!". The history of the house is very interesting, too. And just thinking about using the house for some fancy event is exciting. The staff plans many programs that are open to the public - seminars, lunches, classes, holiday events - so one can even get a small taste of such elegant living. Really beautiful!

This Greek revival home is very stunning from the outside and can only imagine what the inside looks like.

Makes an impression for a private party. A historical part of Austin as it was the home of the Hormel family. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Many local parties are held there, mostly in the additions where there is more space for groups.

We toured the Hormel House and were so impressed by this stately, elegant home. If you are in Austin, you should be sure to visit.

This is a beautiful home with stunning gardens. The cost is $3 per person to visit, which isn't really a ton of money but the tour wasn't really tons informative either. The Hormels only lived in the house for about 25 years so to me it lacked a "lived in" historical feel. There is an office off the main entry which the doors were open and people were working in there. Watching someone tap away on an ipad took away from the era. The kitchen had been completely redone in modern appliances, I assume to allow for event catering. They added on a huge banquet hall which really was fabulous and I would love to hold an event there. Overall, I'd say if you have some time kill and want to drop a few dollars then go visit.

Definitely recommend the HORMEL HISTORIC HOME as your venue for your next event!The home is stunning and very charming. The wedding coordinator (Amanda) was very helpful. Our daughter resides in Austin and Amanda was very accommodating as we were planning and make arrangements from Utah. The wedding was held in November and everything took place at the Hormel Historic Home (rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception and gift opening). The pricing for the event was worth every penny and our daughter was delighted with how things came together! Catering through Hy-Vee is also recommended - the food was of great quality and very affordable.

We found this historic home a beautiful place to host a function. It was very clean and well decorated. The grounds are lovely.The employees are very nice and we just thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The food was great. If we lived in the area I would not hesitate to book the historic home for a function.
