We used the building and park for scouts and had a fun autumn get together. The girls had lots of places for relay races and the volunteers had plenty of places to set up for the meal.

Such a peaceful serene place. Kept up nicely for picnickers.

I recently visited the Park for the first time and was very impressed - it's such a peaceful place. The word "pastoral" comes to mind. It's such a tranquil setting, nestled amongst the lakes and gently rolling glacial hills southwest of Alexandria, MN. The surrounding woods are filled with oak, ash, maple and basswood trees. I noticed lots of birds and other wildlife while there. There are walking trails that meander through the woods. The Park has a very nice picnic area, children's playground, volleyball court, baseball/softball diamond (across the road), as well as a restored barn with kitchen and restroom facilities. The old Kensington Depot and Jail buildings have been moved into the Park and put on display. The Olaf Ohman farm house is in the process of being restored. Be sure to drive or walk all the way through the Park to the hill where the Kensington Runestone was discovered by Olaf Ohman and his son in 1898. There's a monument on the top of the hill, along with the flags of the United States, Minnesota, Sweden and Norway. You can see the surrounding countryside for miles from the top of this hill. I would definitely recommend the Park as a place to have a wedding or family reunion. In the winter you can snowmobile on the trails, cross country ski or snowshoe - I plan to do just that this coming winter! How to get there: Kensington Runestone Park is located three miles north of Kensington, MN at 8755 County Road 103 SW. From Interstate 94, exit 100, go west on Highway 27 for about 14 miles, turn left on County Road 103, go about one mile – watch for signs.
