wilds golf club

I'll try to be brief.....I am lucky enough to experience another birthday, as we all are. The 2 nights before I rumble through my emails and come across a birthday certificate. ...."HAPPY BIRTHDAY, come enjoy a round on us."... I have just moved to the Minnesota area so I figure this would be a great way to become familiar with it's golf courses. I wake up around 6, call the course, let the club attendant know my situation (birthday certificate), and book a tee time. I proceed to make the hour long trip, and arrive at what looked to be a beautiful course. I was greeted upon arriving, which was nice. From there I felt as if I were staring into the depths of a toilet. After being refreshed on the conditions of MY birthday voucher, I received customer service that can be compared to McDonalds. In fine print on my Happy Birthday Voucher it says.... I must be accompanied by another paying patron to receive my round. (Pause for effect) Being so happy to play after my lay-off I simply printed the voucher and headed to the course. Yet I believe or have come to believe that golf is a sport and or business for the thinking man and woman. So even with this hurdle in front of us I believe we can work something out. After explaining to them I had just moved to the state and had no one to accompany me during my round I was told there was nothing they could do, due to their system and how they book reservations. (Laughable). So I stare, and stare. Which invokes my great club house attendant to say I can charge you for a senior round which will be 60 plus cart. (Pause for effect) Just a bit different than paying for just a cart as it stated on my voucher. So I become the customer trying to work out his own customer service. So I reply "is this all you can do for me?" ...."yes" ....without hesitating. I smile say thanks and head out the door........with this being said ....How much do you think I would tip the caddie when my rounds down?, how much will I spend on the cart girl buying drinks given that it's my birthday? How much will I spend in the restaurant after? How much will each of these people be tipped? (which I actually offered to do in an effort to meet them half way given I misread the voucher) Not to mention I was in the market for a new pair of shoes, a couple of shirts and a gal friend who's interested in picking up lessons. I assumed all people in this business were forward thinkers ( at least when it comes to money). With the head pro, assistant head pro, 2 additional employees, and a club house manager no one was forward thinking enough to take care of a customer on their birthday. Through out it all I was given the impression that they were doing me a favor in being able to help with their bottom line, and that my business was not wanted........let's just say they are doing the best they can to grow the game, and provide great customer service. Lol....After this treatment I cared not to mention that I was also looking to plan a business golf tournament of approx. 200. I picked up my phone, browsed through a few other birthday round vouchers in the area and headed to The links of Northfork. I called explained my situation , in which they responded come on out........Note- the voucher I had wasn't valid until the next day @ Northforks, it also required half a cart purchase, and booking of next tee time. He overlooked all these things, not to mention he shot me off 20 min before a tourney as long as I promised to start on 2. Needless to say I took care of him, the cart girl, and the chef for a great birthday lunch. As I turn to leave, I'm called over by the club house attendant who is standing next to the head club house pro. I received 4 free sleeves of balls and a towel. (I joked about how I needed them earlier) needless to say they will be receiving all our corporate tournaments, my gal will be there every weekend for lessons, I bought a great pair of shoes, and enjoyed my day without question. Not to mention it's the best course I've played since being in MN. Thank you Links of Northfork, and I am still so very disappointed in the Wilds, a moment of actually caring for the customer would have been mutually beneficial for everyone. Now I understand why they are located so close to a casino. It's great to have forward thinking people you can trust, and communicate with; and I'm sorry to report the staff at the Wilds top to bottom is a Gamble. I'll save that mindset for the course.

The Wilds isn't a bad golf course, but I believe you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere. Meadows at Mystic Lake down the road is a way better course, better service, and around the same price!

Attended a party there...food was only ok. Expected better than what we got. Deck outside is nice and do have a good view.

If you are an avid golfer then this is the place to be! Spendy, but very beautiful setting! If you are a beginner or need a place for the whole family to golf...go to Cleary Lake where the whole family can golf, swim, canoe, bike, etc.

Played 20, 21, 22 August 13 in a tournament. Was very impressed with the condition of the course. We were given a $55 rate for practice rounds prior to the tournament, but when we made reservations, no-one new about the rate. Not sure what happened there. Our tournament started off with range balls. Unfortunately we were told to hit off of the mats instead of the grass. Brought this up to the pro shop and they told us the head pro requested that. On the last day they let us hit off of the grass instead of the mats. After our tournament we headed to the bar/restaurant. Unfortunately there was only one waitress so service was terrible. It took us 30 minutes to get any food. The bar tender even looked irritated because there were so many of us. The last two days of the tournament, the bartender who served us during the first day was the cart girl for the next two days. Although she was not rude or anything, she was far from friendly. I have a feeling this girl does not want to be there. It just looked like we were more of a burden than anything. Enough of the bad. The course was in excellent condition. Very challenging for all players. You may want to bring some extra balls if you are not a good player. The pro shop workers were very friendly along with the cart girls outside. Overall it was a good tournament. If we could do it again we would probably play somewhere else. Check around to get the best deal and if you do book at the Wilds, make sure you have all the details in writing (cost of practice rounds, hitting off of real grass on the range, etc).

The course is beautiful and also challenging. Not for the beginner. Fairways are long and in very good condition. Tough greens but well worth it.

You can't go wrong with a round of golf at The Wilds! Great people both in the club house and on the course. Friendly staff compliments the beautiful course and challenging greens. Lots of challenges to keep you on your toes! Worth the price and worth the drive!

Paid $85 to walk this course?!?! Are you kidding me? You will get 10x the experience playing chaska town course, the legends or the meadows for about that price and get a cart! And for the price, I would the course to be in fair condition. The greens are long and do not roll true. Many of the greens had poor patch jobs and were in overall poor condition. I am not happy!

To be fair I wasn't paying for my meal so I might be biased but the steak I had was excellent! I look forward to eating here again and when my golf skills improve maying playing 18 holes here as well.

I really liked the course, but having played a lot of courses in the Twin CIties and beyond, I like a lot of other courses more. This is expensive for what it is, I think. maybe I was having a bad round, but I like the Legends in Prior Lake more. I think it is prettier, and more interesting. Just sayin'...

I love playing the Wilds, but it is overpriced if you are paying their normal rate. The course is well maintained and the greens are always in great shape (and not slow). Good value during their pay the temp in the spring and fall.

The ceremony on the patio was just beautiful. What a wonderful setting. The meal was topnotch and very elegant. Service in the bar area was superb. What a great place to havethis memorable event.

standard golf course where you spend half your time between houses.

the golfing here is great, the dining is not bad at all, just average. We have not been overly impressed the last couple times we ate here, the atmosphere is great though. You wont be disappointed if you visit just don't expect to be wowed

Food is quite good and generous. Nice atmosphere and the views are fantastic.
