So much history here, like going back in time. Just the place to spend a weekend and relax. I felt like I was back in the 40's or 50's. The pace is slower here!

Whether or not you've read any of Sinclair Lewis' books, this is a tour you will probably enjoy. Nicely maintained historical home on a well cared for street ... enjoyed.

Nice home town, neat main street, great shops in town, just off interstate. Nice town lake and park for fishing and boating.

It's history is sweet and the haunted Inn is fun! We enjoyed the photos and stories from the patrons we spoke with.

Lewis' childhood home has been turned into a museum honoring his books. The guide was friendly and knew so many details about his life. I was so glad that they had some of his books for sale there as well. We were able to tour the home on our own.

This is just a regular street except that the Sinclair Lewis home is located on it. You can see this small house from the street but you must schedule to visit the inside.

Sinclair Lewis actually hated his boyhood home here and left town as soon as he could. Locals were not pleased with his book, Main Street, but Pulitzer Prizes and a lifetime of good writing won out and now he is the boyhood hero. The Sinclair Lewis home is very interesting and this is one small town that has embraced its heritage and has a thriving and eclectic Main Street -- everything from a homey multiplex built into an historic building to a downtown dairy and bakery to an alternative healing center. And, of course, there are the ubiquitous bars.

Late at night when the streets are deserted if you look directly down Sinclair Lewis Avenue. It has and eerie quality about it. In fact it reminded us of something out of the scene of Ichabod Crane. Totaly cool.
