Nice trail. Great scenery, and a nice little stopping point with an observation deck where you can rest, take in the views and enjoy a snack or two. Pretty flat, makes for a nice leisure walk. Dog enjoyed sniffing along the way & even met a few others walking their dogs as well. Restrooms at the trail head. Looking forward to walking this trail often in the warm months!

I visit this trail every month of the year. Very satisfying hike, run or ski opportunities in a natural setting. Single track dirt trail. No biking or snowshoeing intended. Only one significant climb to get to the top of Blue Hill (optional spur trail) otherwise pretty flat terrain that goes through prairie, Oak Savannah, Pine woods and along marshy area by Buck Lake. Observation decks in two locations with free spotting scopes (adult and children heights). Trail length options from 2 miles to 4.5 miles. Restroom at parking lot. Kiosk with refuge information at trailhead. Good for birding throughout the year.

What a great place to hike and snowshoe. Many options on the length of your hike. Great view from atop Blue Hill. Great variety in terrain. Oak savannah, prairie, lakes and pine forests.
