In May 2014 the waterfall was roaring and spilling more water than we could imagine. We were told it was the highest it had been in a long time. We were glad to be able to experience it. Good trail with a beautiful scene at the end ....... kind of like a pot at the end of a rainbow!

This was an easy trial that takes you right up to the falls. There are other trails that branch off if you would like to be more adventurous. Numerous interesting trees along the hike.

Was in Ely this past MEA weekend. We ventured to this trail. Great wooded setting. Nice easy walking trail - requires more skillful navigating to get down closer to the falls (totally do-able). Beautiful, peaceful scenery that made for nice photos - including one that now graces my new iPhone 6 home screen. Definitely check this out if in the area. It's close, quick, easy, beautiful, and free.

Short hike to see a very nice falls and lake. Recommended for anyone with fairly good footing (quite a few roots to climb over). There is a portage for canoeing folks by the falls. Quite popular--lots of folks out on the trail.

This is a short hiking loop east of Ely, just off the Fernberg Road. Kawishiwi Falls can be very impressive after extensive rains, and is still worth the short hike during dry periods. Interesting tree growth along the way.

A fast, simple hike through beautiful woods takes you to gorgeous views of the falls. There are lots of rocks to climb around on that allow pictures from many angles. It was particularly pretty in September when the fall colors were at their peak. There were also lots of cool trees with exposed roots along the path. Directions to the trail were difficult to come by - take Route 169 north out of Ely a few miles past Winton. You'll go over a bridge by the power station - look for the Kawishiwi Falls Trail sign - it's the second left after the bridge (west side of the road).

Not far to hike, and great view when you get there. There are many falls in this area but this is one of the best.

Easy but scenic hike! Pretty falls. Short trail. Glad we checked it out. Got some good pictures of the falls and managed to stay dry. It was quite rainy the week we were up there.

I went out Sunday morning in the mist. I was a bit nervous alone out there, but it was worth the hurried short walk through the woods. It feels isolated, but it isn't that far from the road. WORTH IT! Beautiful falls!

Had read it was an easy hike and 2/3 in our group of couch potatoes was game to try. If someone in your group has mobility issues or bad knee/ankles, know that the trail is often uneven (rocks and roots) and has some uphill bits. When the trail is climbing, it is in short segments about equal to a residential flight of stairs. We didn't explore the portage trails or go down to the water but made it in and out with a few short rest breaks and a stop for photos in just over a half hour. If I lived closer it would be my go-to for a quick workout! There's a porta-potty in the parking lot, but I didn't see a water tap so you'll want to bring your own.

This was a short hike for a beautiful view! It was harder than I thought it would be, a bit rocky and tree stumps sticking out but worth the effort!

We love this short easy hike. Easy for all ages and not very long. The Falls are beautiful and the fishing outstanding. Hike with your fishing gear. You will be pleased!

This was the one and only picture we got of our entire family, standing before the falls. The trek in was almost a mile, all ages were able to make the trip.

I expected a small waterfall since I'm used to the huge ones in the Smokey Mountains. After a small trek through the woods, I was very surprised to see quite a display. Beautiful falls. Not a hard hike, but wear walking shoes. Actually we were there late July in 2013 but I don't see a selection for July.
