We pulled over to see this not knowing what it was and drove away without seeing the attraction. We then saw it on a commercial and made the drive all the way back (which was totally worth it in our opinions). We definitely kicked ourselves for missing it the first time, but were glad we went back. Our young kids enjoyed seeing the petroglyphs and it was very cool to read about the history of the artwork and how old it is and how many groups of people have added to it. Some graffiti which always makes me so mad, but it can be overlooked.

If your driving between Moab and Monticello, do take some time to see this rock art. It is right next to the parking lot, so it is very easy to see. One could spend hours deciphering all the different images from different time periods. It is the work of many hands. But it does have some excellent examples of rock art. Enjoy it.

We took the turnoff to Newspaper rock on a whim while driving to Arches. Well worth the diversion! Amazing views on the way to the site and the petroglyphs are very clear and plentiful! When you step out of your car, you will notice the 'silence.' It's a peaceful place to take a break. There is a bathroom in the parking lot which was clean.

Quick side site to see on the way to Canyonlands. Nice Petroglyphs and good photo opportunity for the family. Really fun for the kids.

It's just like the picture up there. A huge rock with ancient designs etched on them. It's really interesting.

If you are going to The Needles in Canyonlands NP, you must stop here. There are dozens of clearly identifiable petroglyphs on a single large rock face. Many animals and people doing activities (like hunting) can be identified.

For older people who may not visit more remote sites this is right at the parking lot. Only a few feet walk. Their is also a outdoor restroom available.Imagine what is was like in the area as you come down in elevation to the wooded creek area and see the petroglyphs only somewhat blocked by a fence and very numerous!!

I LOVE petroglyphs and this site has been on my bucket list for a long time. Unfortunately, the easy access has also lead to a lot of vandalism. I'd say if you're in the area visiting Canyonlands or want a quick side trip while you're traveling between Moab and Monticello, stop by. If you are from someplace where you don't get to see petroglyphs very often, definitely go, and be aware there are lots of petroglyphs to see further up the road if you keep your eyes peeled. Indian Creek, just a bit further down the road, has amazing scenery, so don't just drive to the petroglyphs and turn around. Go further, or all the way to Canyonlands. You won't regret it.

We were passing through, so it was worth seeing. Enjoyed the stop, but don't go out of the way for it.

Newspaper rock is an easy stop off point. The signs are clear on the hwy, you just pull in to the parking lot and walk a few yards. If you have mobilty issues this is the best option I have seen for you to see some good petroglyphs. I wouldn't consider this a destination, but if your are driving by it is well worth the stop. It lasted about 10 minutes for us. It really isn't clear which ones are the genuine old ones, a lot of them looked pretty new to me, specially the 60's peace logos and the 20th century dated works. Funny how the old ones are considered treasured art, but the recent work is vandalism!

This is an interesting stop near Blanding. You get to view rock art thousands of years old. It is a brief stop, not that much to see; good for a few photos. Still, worth it if you are in the area.

Travelers should take the time to visit the fascinating site which features so many petroglyphs. It must be one of the most concentrated sites of petroglyphs in the nation! I have been to this site numerous times and am always amazed and wonder of the messages conveyed in the messages left by those who lived before us. This site is located north of Monticello, Utah and is on the same road to the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park.

This was a cool place to see. Take a little drive and it's right there, next to the parking lot. The kids really enjoyed this. Plus, we bought some nice jewelry from a Navajo woman there, who was selling it, to send her daughter to college. It turns out she knew some of the same people I did when I lived down there. Awesome experience. (July 2013)

This little gem is well worth seeing. The rock paintings/carvings are very clear and you can get very close to them.

Saw this on the road to the Needles section of Canyonlands. Just on the side of the road, with a pull out area to view. No walking required. Stop if you're passing by, but nothing to go out of the way to see.
