Now that I have had this experience, I know I could never have imagined or believed I could do all that was required of me, but Jared was patient and thorough in his instructions and always encouraged questions. There was never any doubt that I could ask for help or rest whenever I needed to throughout. Jared took us to Fry's Canyon, which involved a couple of short rappels into a narrow slot canyon and swimming a couple of small pools before hiking the bottom of a larger canyon. I got stuck at one point on the climb out of the canyon, but everyone stayed calm and with a little assistance, I was up and out! On our hike back to the car, I never hesitated to ask to stop when I needed rest. The total time for this adventure (and I'm not as fit as I could be) was about seven hours. I conditions and fitness are all contributors to how long this adventure can take.Jared provided lunch, water, snacks and all the equipment we needed for the day. My husband and I had any amazing experience, one that I would recommend highly. You won't regret it!

Jared and his staff were absolutely wonderful. They were patient, careful, and professional with us. We were in a large group, and they helped each person individually, as well as encouraged us as a team. They chose a gorgeous location for rappelling, and made it a fun experience. Great for every level of difficulty. Expect some adrenaline rushes. :)

This was a great group of people to guide us and help us do some amazing things! we went canyoneering and rappelling and all the guides were very fun to be with! They all had great communication skills and were very clear and specific in their instructions. They were also very fun and made sure everyone was included equally. Very good! Great experience! Highly recommend North Was Outfitters!

Matthew,Thank you for your comments. Our team had a wonderful time with the Upward Bound Counselors and it was a great pleasure helping all of you through the canyon. We watched many of you grow in just a few hours from the first rappel to the final one and watch the confidence in your group build. We wish you and the rest of the counselors the best this year with your assignments and hope that you can make a huge difference to the kids you will be mentoring.

I am a sometimes climber and was interested in exploring some canyon adventures. Jared adeptly tailored the class to meet the needs of the attendees and kept it truly engaging and fun. Our canyon explorations on the third day were well suited to practically apply the skills we learned in a diverse set of scenarios. If you are looking for a good outfit, I'd highly recommend North Wash Outfitters!

Brett - Thanks for joining us for the course. Your skill set was already superb, I am glad that I was able to add some more tools to your tool box for your future explorations of those unknown canyons. Don't hesitate to contact me in the future if you ever have any questions.

Jay, your group was fantastic to take out in the canyon and as guides we had a wonderful time with all of you. I certainly wish you would have mentioned the idea of explaining the rigging we use. As guides we offer courses where we teach these skills and help our clients learn and understand them, however when we go out on a guided trip we usually just jump in an get the systems set up so we can efficiently move through the canyon, but showing what we are doing is never an issue when asked. When you come back out for the next trip we will certainly accommodate this. Thanks for having such a great group of kids.

My two kids (14 and 12) arrived in Blanding somewhat unprepared for what the area holds in store. We stayed at the Stone Lizard and were trying to figure out what to do when I came upon North Wash. We were not quite prepared for canyoneering, but Jared flexed around our schedule and took us out to see Anasazi ruins and petroglyphs along the Comb Ridge near Blanding. He as courteous, professional and extremely knowledgeable about the area and our little posse had a great time. Next time we'll plan better and take on some canyoneering. This whole area was a great surprise to us and a welcome respite from the somewhat crowded national parks scene and Moab. I highly recommend exploring this area and calling North Wash to help you out.

Wow! Jared is an amazing coach. He took concepts that can be intimidating and made them achievable. I gained respect and understanding for the canyons of the area and techniques for navigating them. Thanks!

Went to Blarney Canyon in the North Wash and had a great time. The owner Jared Hillhouse is an excellent guide, host, and he provided equipment that other outfitters do not provide, such as gloves, knee pads and elbow pads, great quality packs and canyoneering equipment. His prices are also more reasonable than most the other outfitters and he gives you more time canyoneering and the confidence to test your potential. You come away feeling much more capable at canyoneering than before and if it is your first trip you will not be disappointed with his trips. I highly recommend his canyoneering trips and training courses.
