What a treasure this should be! A major attraction! I guess the original owner was in legal for years with the city and I don't know what is going on. I went there a few times 20 years ago and once in 2014. It's a special place! I recommend it for the whole family and when your done just head in in your flip flops to Baristas for some great laid back 5 star food.

This review is loooooong overdue. I was here with my family and friends when I was in junior high, so in the mid 90's. I remember driving for 12 hours from LA to get here one spring. We were all exhausted from such a long drive through the deserts of Nevada and New Mexico and got here late at 9:30 p.m and it was completely dark. Policy wise, I don't think they let people in to hot springs after dark (or certain hours). But seeing how exhausted we were and knowing bunch of kids were stuck in the car for so long, they let us use the facilities that night. It was so breathtakingly beautiful. Of course it was completely dark (no artificial lighting at the time) and we had to stumble through rocks and uneven terrain for a few minutes to get to the hot springs. But once we got there, we saw the silvery hot springs reflecting a million stars of sky above. I was speechless at the unspoiled beauty of this place which was apparent even at night. I just soaked away lying down in the shallow parts of the hot springs looking at all the stars in the sky. I remember them having something of a bed and breakfast type lodging accommodation. We were served the most delicious blueberry pancakes the next morning. The owners were very sweet and were catering to our large group. Fast forward 20 years and my family and I had been to countless hot springs facilities all over the country and even abroad (we love hot springs), but I always remembered Pah Tempe and wanted to go back. Now that I have a steady job and can afford to take my parents on vacations, I looked up Pah Tempe again (thinking I will be taking my family there for the upcoming Christmas vacation), only to find that this place is now closed due to some on-going legal dispute and is controlled by the State. That is such a bummer!!! The words cannot express how disappointed I am.I am writing this review as something of a tribute to Pah Tempe, which gave me such a long-lasting happy memory of my childhood. I was hoping I would frequently visit this place in my adulthood but I guess that won't happen. I will pray that whatever dispute it may be, you will soon resolve it. This place was truly awesome.

We were so looking forward to this, and so sad that they were closed due to legal disputes. Make sure you call before you go!!!!!!

You are in complete euphoria when you come to these holy grounds. The 7 pool natural hot springs are surrounded by beautiful canyon walls. It is completely private!! The springs are reserved in 3 hour sessions. I took my husband there for a weekend get-a-way. I went with the intention to just be in a space of pure bliss and love with my husband. It was that and then some. Alongside the springs is the virgin river flowing by which only adds to the decadent surroundings. If you are looking for peace, serenity, and healing I strongly suggest you pay a visit to the springs. You will leave a different person GUARANTEED. We loved it so much we are going again next month for Valentines. Definitely a must!!

I went for a 3 hour block. Arrived...greeted by friendly owner (German accent). Walked barefoot (not recommended) down a wood chip path. Arrived to find 5 small pools built against the side of a mountain. At this point I am thinking "ok this is sort of cool, but I don't think I will last 3 hours in these pools." I started in the lower pools, then moved to the upper pools. After 45 minutes I was ready to get out. The virgin river runs adjacent the pools so I decided that before I leave I should take a dip in the river.....I spent the next 3 hours in the river. its 90-110 degrees with thermal vents all over the place. I took a mud bath covered in black mud. Let warm bubbles envelope my body...it was simply amazing. My kids also did not want to leave...after nearly 4 hours. The setting is rad. The experience is out of this world...if you decide to explore what the property has to offer. (the thermal vents are up the river for about a quarter mile.)

My wife and i are locals and we love Pah Tempe! PRIVATE and romantic hot springs bubbling out of the mountain sitting just above the Virgin River. You a 3 hour private block of time. I always make a dinner and bring cocktails and we relax it on of the georgeous pools of hot spring water. As your body slids in the water the aches and pains exit. It is unbelievable. If you are looking for a unique one of a kind experience this is a must visit. These springs are nestled in a awesome canyon cut out by the Virgin River. Map it because it is not clearly marked. Also make reservations early, this place gets booked at certain times of the year. The owners are very nice and accommodating. You will want to come back for more! i rate this spring at the very top of all the hot springs we have visited in our travels. You be glad you found Pah Tempe!! It feels sacred and healing.

This place is simply amazing. The owner and his wife are very nice and friendly. If reserving ahead of time, which I usually do, I'm asked to mail a check ahead of time to reserve the place. The springs are privately owned and operated, so when renting the place, you have the whole area to yourself. There are generally rented in three hour blocks. I usually just call Ken up and ask if the three hour block I want is available on the day I want. On property, he has a pool filled by the natural springs as well as two bathrooms and changing rooms. The springs are a short walk down a well maintained trail. There are approximately 6 pools that are surrounded by rock walls creating all natural pools. That means I recommend a pair of water shoes as there is rock and sand on the bottom of the pools. Also, because they are all natural, there is some calcium build up and sometimes algae that collect in the pools. The pool temperatures all vary, from approximately 104 degrees down to 98 degrees. They are very comfortable. There are a variety of benches available and a small grass area. The pools sit on the edge of the Virgin River so the springs spill over the edge of the pool and into the river below. It's an awesome and intimate setting. If going at night, I recommend bringing a flashlight as there are often no lights down by the springs. This is an absolutely wonderful place to relax and soak your bones. Don't wear jewelry in the springs as the sulfer will discolor silver. The sulfer smell is slight and not too over powering. I highly recommend this place.

Perfect way to end the day. Wonder hot springs soak with friends or by your self. Group rates but easy to find a few friends to hang with. Sound of the river below as you look to the stars above. Stop by and give it a try.

Pah Tempe means healing waters from the rocks. These mineral rich waters, containing 50 different salts and minerals, come from a large underground lake and has not seen the light of day for millions of years. The hot spring pools built into the Virgin River bank cascade to the river, offering a range of water temperatures from 107F - 101F, as well as access to the Virgin River itself where the waters are warmed to as much as 70F. The property owner, Ken Anderson, met us as we arrived, led us down the path to the hot spring pools, and explained about the springs and the mineral water and then encouraged us to relax and enjoy our the hot springs and the beautiful Virgin River canyon in privacy. We had a lovely time trying each of the pools and the river and finally relaxing in a favorite pool, stepping out to cool off and relax on the poolside or benches and then returning to the delicious, silky, warm water. Pah Tempe Hot Springs has an excellent website with information about the hot springs and their history. I recommend watching the video interview with Ken Anderson - very interesting and inspiring.

We were told about this place by someone who had visited 20 years ago and she thought it would be a great place to stop on our drive from Salt Lake to Mesquite. We made reservations for the 3:00 to 6:00 slot and got directions. We were shown where to park and was taken down a short pathway to the pools. We soaked in the pools and went into the river to cool off or just layed around in the warmth of the spring sun surrounded by the beauty of the canyon. The 80 bucks we paid for the two of us was well worth it. The serene setting with the bubbling water and the sound of the the Virgin river was calming and spritual for me. I read another review and I agree that the walls are slimy with algae and I did not see or was told about any outdoor showers so don't expect the spa experience at the Ritz. We only had a short drive to a hotel and shower in Mesquite and wondered if we stunk when we were in line to check in. I can't wait to come back!

Well, with all the talk and forum posts for and against and all the recriminations and all the controversy and sides being taken AND knowing that the price was really high for what you get, in the end I couldn't let the chance go by and had to go take a look at Pah Tempe and see what it was all about. I've posted in the forums that some of the remarks made there would be better put in a review, but found out while trying to write my own that Pah Tempe had yet to make an appearance in the review section. I hope that has been corrected now and we can get some more reviews here.We visited for our anniversary, and we have had some luck in the past with hottubs and hot springs during our winter celebrations. So since we had chosen St George for our weekend get away it also seemed appropriate to visit Pah Tempe and keep the hot spring tradition alive (last year it was Lava Hot Springs in Idaho - which we shared with half the population of lower Idaho). My husband had never been to Pah Tempe before, I had visited once three owners ago with a college group and my memory of that late night foray was foggy. You reserve a three hour block for your group, which can be as large as you want. There is $50 charge for the first person, $30 for the second and $20 after that. I had originally thought an earlier time would be better, but in the end the 9-12 pm slot worked out great for us. It was $80 for the two of us, and we stayed about 2 of our 3 hours (it had been a long day and we got tired, that water was so relaxing), so it worked out to $20 an hour each, (and yes, that did help me feel better about shelling out that much). But definitely part of the appeal to me while there was that we were alone and guaranteed to stay that way. I think having it to yourself is an extremely potent experience and might even be worth what they charge. It was certainly a more relaxed experience than Lava, and Mystic, and Diamond Fork and any other number of hot springs I have visited. The drive up was easy. Ken, the owner for the last 28 years, was there waiting to walk us down the short, easy but dark path and explain the pools' benefits and make sure we knew what was where. It was only then that he asked if we'd brought flashlights...I appreciated another reviewer alerting me to the fact they would be needed for a night visit. And then he left us alone to enjoy without any more chitchat or answers to any of the many questions I had for him. We didn't worry about a changing room since it was pitch black, I have no idea if there was a bathroom around, we didn't need it. Some people have complained that the facilities should be nicer for the amount of money we paid. All I can say is it didn't matter to us.And then we got into the nearest pool since it was really cold out and it was such a welcome warmth that surrounded us that I said right then and there it was worth the money. It was so luxurious to sit there counting the winter stars and feel encircled by the life giving water.Ken said he had 700 (of the 1500 possible) gallons of water running through the pools every minute. He has created five pools with the hottest at the top against the cliffside and each one cooling off slightly as the water runs through and out to the river. We tried them all, but ended up in the two top ones for most of the time. During daylight it would be nice to sit at one of the lower ones and watch the Virgin River flow by, but at night the only thing we had was the warmth of the water and the stars in the sky.Was the water gross as some have said? Don't know, another good reason to go in the night. Were the sides slimy with algae? Yes, and our clothes were green and smelled funny through several washings. Does that really matter? I guess in the end it didn't to me. So I would not recommend this place if you are squeamish and want things pristine. This was not. What we experienced was something private and primal, finding earth warmed water in the depth of winter to warm our cold and weary bones. And it did that wonderfully.I'm sorry for the lack of pictures. We took a few, but the night time shots don't do it justice.
