A delightful place to ski - should I be telling people about a place with tons of steeps and no crowds? It's a really nice alternative to Alta and Snowbird a canyon over --

Don't be fooled by Park City, the Cottonwoods consistently get more snow! Skiers and snowboarders, head this way!

As anyone familiar with this part of the world knows, anytime the weather allows is a great time for a drive through Big Cottonwood Canyon. This trip allowed us to see the early glimpses of Spring. The Canyon terrain itself is showings buds on trees and shrubs, as well as a short growth of green grasses. Looking up toward Mount Olympus shows new growth on the pines, and topped with fresh powder giving great contrast and providing for stunning photo's. From taking pictures to getting your hiking on you will find something to smile about. From Big Cottonwood you can also enjoying the views to the west of the canyon, of the Oquirrh Mountains off in the distance.

Every winter I make sure I ski at Brighton when I am visiting SLC. It's only 45 minutes from downtown and the drive up Big Cottonwood Canyon is breathtaking. Brighton has reasonable rates and lots of blue/ green trails, which are great for east coast skiers like me.

Big Cottonwood Canyon is a treat any time of the year. Bring walking shoes, sun screen, a hat, water, and be prepared for the cooler temperature. Get the scenic stops and restaurant opportunities.

Beautiful area, enjoyed the skiing. My husband and I teach skiing at Grand Targhee Resort in Wyoming. We used to live in Utah but had never skied Solitude. We so enjoyed it and would highly recommend it.

Solitude is a family friendly mountain with groomed runs and great views. It is the perfect mountain. It is a great destination for families and eastern skiers.

These two mountains are the best deal in skiing in the USA!! So much mountain and Utah snow for $70/day or so. Can't beat it.

The most beautiful time of year to enjoy the canyon is in the fall. The best way to do it is, why not RUN IT. A full and half marathon will take place again this year September 12, 2015. The BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON (Go Big) is incredible. The full starts at Brighton Ski Resort and the half starts at Solitude Ski Resort. While running the sun rises and you see the fall color glimmer in the leaves. GO BIG.

The views are great both during the summer and winter. Hiking is amazing. Skiing is great. Silver lake is a must during the summer. Brighton is a great resort during the winter.

Beautiful. Love going on hikes. Breath taking scenery. Great for the family. Nature at its best. Bring plenty of water and food shoes. Temperatures drop at night so be prepared and being a jacket even if it's warm out.

One of the most beautiful canyon in Utah imo. Offered a wide variety of recreation activities, be it a simple camping near the lake, an interesting ride up the hill, or even a tough hike. if you're into some real action, snow shoeing could also be your cup of tea - but remember, don't take Mother Nature lightly!

So if you're a skier, you got to heaven and didn't have to die to get there! Ain't too much more to say...
