Travelers look forward to a state welcome center is rest rooms, food and information. What makes this center stand out is not the size or whatn it can offer the traveler, but the location. This facility sits on a hill facingn west, the lower Smoky Mountains.Large clean rest rooms, very helpful staff. The main building is is partly lod cabin like, with a large fireplace and for rocking chairs. A separate smaller building is for vending & soda machines. Picnic tables, separate parking for cars and trucks. A dog walking area. But the main draw is the beautiful view of the mountains. I have stopped here three times in less than a year. The center is about 10-12 miles north of the North Carolina border, Exit 46, servicing both lanes of 1-26. Phone # is 615-741-9014.Jack L., Syracuse, New York.
