We stumbled on the Green Dragon while visiting Murfreesboro for the day from Crossville. The pub is a quiet backwater, and not easy to find, in this bustling city. The new, family run, business is starting out serving craft beers and excellent food from a limited menu prepared in a tiny kitchen. They are building a brewery in the backroom and the emphasis is on the beer but the food, soup and sandwiches, really is excellent. There is limited seating but I have no doubt that this will be a successful venture for this charming family. The building was an old dairy and some of the old features remain. Their Tolkein theme and proximity to the trails on the greenway indicates their priorities. We ended our lunch with a quick game of darts. Great atmosphere in an old fashioned pub.

As a huge Tolkien fan, I was excited when this place opened in my town. It is small, but cozy and friendly. You can't be in a bad mood here! The quaint English farm cottage decor packed with maps of Middle-earth always brings a smile. They have shelves of board games for kids (or adults). They regularly have keg taps of special, limited brews; those event are always crowded and you buy your pints by tickets (limited number, about $5 each). But the regular, rotating selection of craft beers (many of them local to Middle Tennessee) is incredible! They also have a full menu featuring a cheese plate, soups, and sandwiches.
